He's a poor finisher at 6'8. He's decent from floater range which is really the only thing he has going for him scoring wise. He sucks at shooting and messes up OKC's spacing. He's a bad defender. And for a guy whose only strength is supposed to be passing, he turns it over a lot.

It seems like every advanced stat hates him too. EPM ranks him as the 8th most negatively impactful player in the league and the most negatively impactful player on a team with a top 10 record. He has the lowest net rating out of the Thunder's rotational players, and OKC is +16.6 (!!) with him off the floor.

I get that he went 7th overall and OKC had to see if they might not regret picking him so high. And they could afford to because winning wasn't a priority. But they're a great team now and could contend right away if they weren't giving 27 minutes a game to this bum who's a net negative on both ends. Giddey has started every game of his career, ffs.

Why the hell is OKC treating him like a key part of their young core along with SGA, Chet, and JDub? It makes no sense to me.

A nice sequence for Haliburton even though he didn't record a touch on the offensive end. I've noticed teams guarding him well beyond the arc even without the ball. A gravity god in the making?

But the way Jokic elevates Murray isn't magic. Murray's lowkey one of the best off-ball players in the league. He's elite at cutting, relocating, and catch & shoot. I think stars should get credit for having scalable playstyles, especially if they're in that 16-25 range and can't be the #1 on a championship team.

That being said this is tough since both elevate in the playoffs, and Brunson is probably the safer option.

I think it's great that the Spurs are taking this year to experiment. They own their pick (unlike the Mavs in Luka's rookie year) and can be trusted to not draft a bust (unlike Lebron's Cavs in 04). A golden opportunity to find their Westbrook/Harden.

But I also think they should start trying harder to win games next season. It's very important to not let a losing culture take hold and stunt player development i.e. Detroit, Houston before this season.

Crazy that the rockets are already a top 5 defense, but it's also crazy that they're an average offense with that roster. Ime working black magic

Truly a masterclass in refereeing. The Pistons announcers are complaining that this is unacceptable because fans tune in to watch the best players like Jokic and Giannis, but as a referee fan I couldn't disagree more. Between the Mike Malone ejection and the Jokic ejection it's been a fun show tonight.

Jokic generates an incredible number of uncontested layups and dunks for cutters. Defenses don't even have time to foul since they're usually focused on the Jokic post-up making them late on the cutters.

Outside of some gaudy and slippery courts, it seems like the in-season tournament has been successful. The NBA has done a solid job of promoting it, it seems like the players are generally taking it seriously, and the crowds are more engaged than they would be in your average regular season game. Thoughts?

Player A's averages: 25 points (68 TS%), 12.5 assists, 2 turnovers, 127 ORTG (+11 net), 64% win rate

Player B's averages: 31 points (65 TS%), 8 assists, 4.5 turnovers, 121 ORTG (+5 net), 73% win rate

Neither is known for their defense. Though player B probably contributes slightly more on that end if you want to evaluate their seasons overall
