Very cool, thanks?

Kenny Pickett and the offense are doing their damndest to convince everyone there’s no hope, but TJ Watt and the defense are always there to say HOLD OUR BEER.

[–] EnjoyMoreBeef@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Kenny Pickett played well on Sunday. He also got robbed of a TD pass by either Diontae Johnson or the referees, depending on who you ask.

[–] D_Antelmi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I was fuming about that call until the game was over. If there's any doubt at all the refs should call it a TD, then it gets automatically reviewed.

[–] Medarco@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Which is funny, because the exact next play when we fumbled, they officiated it that way (correctly). I was mad we fumbled, but at least they officiated it correctly, which is all anyone wants.

The broadcast officials and analysts have consistently talked about letting it play out and then reviewing, but the back judge (who had no view of the ball at all) decided "nah fuck that" and called it incomplete.

I know we scrape the bottom of the barrel in opposition the next two weeks, and I believe this offense can consistently get yardage like Sunday - but we need more than 20 points to show if we’re facing the Cards and Patriots. If we can’t showcase some capable results, despite any ref fuckery, we’re fucked.

Mike "Kirk Ferentz" Tomlin

[–] llama-rebel@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I've seen way too many references to Iowa football today for my sanity as an Iowa football fan.

[–] Say_Hennething@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, university of Iowa fans are not impressed

[–] zPolaris43@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Well they have the 5th fewest points against which is important to note. Only the niners, chiefs, cowboys, and ravens have given up less points. Steelers also haven’t allowed more than 20 points in a game since week 4.

[–] JinxCanCarry@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We're also like +10 in turnover differential which people always exclude. Anyone who watched last night's game can tell you how much not throwing picks left and right goes to winning games

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You guys are NFL Iowa - even have the same color scheme.

The Steelers just managed to dump their shitty OC mid season instead of after the season (probably because Canada isn't Tomlin's son lol)

[–] no_racist_here@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why score many points when few points do trick?

[–] hot-sauce-950@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Since TJ is being paid the most they also make him play the most time and snaps

The Steelers are also 28th in the league in points scored.

They could just as easily be 4-7.

[–] Putridfootball32@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Isn’t that literally the post?

[–] ExcitingThing7786@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That's what happens when you play an afc north team every week

[–] ilikemarblestoo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They and Iowa share colors for reasons man.

[–] EnjoyMoreBeef@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Because back in the late 1970s, their head coach at the time, Hayden Fry, updated the Hawkeyes' uniforms to look like the Steelers' uniforms, because he wanted his team to "look like winners."

[–] thecountoncleats@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The 1980s must have been the longest decade of his life, then.

[–] TheIllusiveGuy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

In 7 out of 11 games, the Steelers have scored more points than their opposition. These are the 7 games that the Steelers won.

[–] Wh00ster@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] ParisGreenGretsch@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You can't prove that.

[–] Any-Ball-1267@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Have they tried scoring more points?

[–] thecountoncleats@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Depends on who you ask

[–] Dleslie213@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yes. It hasn't worked out.

[–] Tr0janSword@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Steelers are masters of situational football. TJ Watt seems to always make the necessary big plays and Pickett is good for 2 random good drives a game.

Right now, they’d play Miami in the playoffs and I’d bet they’d lose that game by 30. If they play anyone besides Baltimore, I think they’ll get blown out.

[–] BoBo_HUST@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

this post is used to disrespect Ravens

[–] AgentOfSPYRAL@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not really, more just an acknowledgement of divisional fuckery and Mike Tomlin wielding voodoo madness against us. Even if we wreck them in week 18 and win by multiple scores I’d still be super anxious in the playoffs.

[–] apittsburghoriginal@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Let’s see how my comment ages but the turnover differential was important until now. I think we are going to see an offense that goes out there and competes consistently, not just a few random drives like we have seen almost the entire season.

[–] Bigdadyk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bmore Jacksonville i like our chances against. Kc we could muck it up for 3,QTs Miami i would put jpj on waddle double Hill and with the 3 playoffs wins in 25 years Miami has all the pressure

[–] jphamlore@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

To be honest, the Steelers being held back from a higher playoff ceiling because of their quarterback has bedeviled innumerable teams from the 1970s until now.

[–] Quirky_Scratch_1755@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Steelers: we're going to waste your career

TJ Watt: try me

[–] DrewB2400@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Every week I watch the Steelers.

Every week I think the Steelers look like one of the worst 5 teams in the league (Pickett sucks)

Every week the Steelers win

[–] EnjoyMoreBeef@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They've also allowed the fifth-fewest points in the league.

[–] AdministrativeLaugh2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They’re going full on Last Season Vikings. All seven of their wins have been by seven points or fewer, three of their four losses have been by 10+ points.

Although unlike the Vikes, they’ve not relied on last-minute FGs to win. In fact, the only last minute go-ahead FG came against them in their 13-10 loss to the Browns

[–] -Jack-The-Stripper@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I feel like we've won almost exclusively one score games for the last 5 years or so. This is not new territory for us.

[–] alecturtles@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I believe only 13 wins since 2018 by more than 8 points

[–] _HGCenty@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Fans say they want balance between offense and defense.

Fans say they want it to be possible for a team to be successful not just with an elite QB.

But do they really??

[–] thecountoncleats@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They do not.

[–] maltzy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You know, just because y'all share the same uniforms and philosophy, doesn't mean you need to copy every single thing Iowa does

[–] thecountoncleats@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They copied us! Tired of this narrative

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tomlin is the Kirk Ferentz of the NFL.

[–] _binarysynthesis@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This team is never going to be bad enough to get the talent they need to win a Super Bowl from the draft mwahahaha

[–] SotRekkr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We suck so bad we’re good. Get on our level guys.

[–] Darth_Tsawl@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I love and hate this team at the same time
