Only makes sense.

Where would Hitler feel more at home; Heaven or Hell?

There appears to never have been any thought by the oligarchs that have brought us this fascism that it did not work. That giving absolute power to one person is a mistake even when that person isn't a deranged asshole to start with.

It didn't work for the rich people that wanted to protect their investments from the Socialists, and that is about exactly what is going on here, our rich were so scared of a little moderate reform that they created a monster they cannot control that will destroy them if they get what they want destroy them one way and or another.

They think they are in charge, that they will never run afoul of the supreme leader, that the supreme leader will not tank the economy in 12 different ways, and go ahunting oligarchs to seize their assets. All very mistaken and all going to happen sooner than later.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe the rich and lazy are actually just dumb as fuck? Scared all alone in their castle sitting on a throne of gold, they'll believe any con man.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

My theory is that it's less that they're truly dumb as fuck, but rather that they're not particularly special -- or does that make them dumb as fuck, LOL? -- and there's almost a dunning-kruger like effect. They see how powerful they are, able to act with near-impunity, and they don't realize how much of that has to do with whatever distribution of power and hesitance to use state violence exists in the flawed but democracy-ish systems they're currently dominating.

That's my question too. Hitler shot himself in a bunker. Fascist governments don't often work out for themselves. What's the end game for Trump here?

Kind of a click bait-y title. They claim there is no afterlife besides heaven, Hitler is dead, therefore Hitler went to heaven. In their mythology, hell doesn't exist.

They're also a raging antisemite who thinks the Nazis did nothing wrong and fascism is the only way to save America. So in a roundabout way the title isn't that wrong.

Kind of a clock bait-y title. They claim there is no afterlife besides heaven, Hitler is dead, therefore Hitler went to heaven. In their mythology, hell doesn’t exist.

Oh, that's actually not a terrible idea if you believe in an absolutely good deity. No matter how much pain and suffering you cause during a finite time you are alive, it can't possibly justify being tortured in hell for eternity. You wouldn't go around saying Hitler went to heaven, but I can see them being put on a spot and having to concede this unpopular point.

They’re also a raging antisemite who thinks the Nazis did nothing wrong and fascism is the only way to save America. So I’m a roundabout way the title isn’t that wrong.

Oh. Oh no.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

They’re just trying to make Trump feel better since he’s been wondering lately if he’ll get into heaven.

Awful shit aside, I thought people generally believed that you don't go to heaven if you commit suicide?

[–] ninjabard@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (9 children)

It's a primarily a Catholic thing. The reasoning is that for every sin you commit, you must ask forgiveness (confession). By committing suicide, you have committed a sin but cannot ask for forgiveness and are thus condemned.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Most Protestants also regard suicide as a grievous sin. Some of the more liberal Protestants accept, with some hemming and hawing that assisted suicide might not send you straight to Hell. As for the fundies, I don't believe there's a consistent consensus view.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 6 days ago

I grew up in an evangelical church, and it most certainly is not a primarily Catholic thing.

Let's assume god was ok with someone ordering the extermination of an entire group of people. Hitler died by suicide and the last time I checked that was still a no-no.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago

Well, God IS quite okay with genocides, AND he killed Hitler. Of course he went to heaven

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

According to whom? (Referring to suicide being a no-no. This is not Holocaust denial.)

Not sure we were all told he killed himself. Who knows someone else could of pulled the trigger. But regardless no way he went to heaven. He would have never asked for forgiveness but in his mind he did nothing wrong.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 0 points 6 days ago

Don't start looking into the research about the skull we were all told to be his.

The torture, the sex crimes at all levels, reducing humanity to chattel and ash. If there's a god that approves of any of that, I'm staying atheist (in fact, the "problem of justice" is a philosophical argument against god, and that applies very much to the holocaust).

[–] plyth@feddit.org -2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Great. Now he will burn even more people. But you do you.

One of the most chilling accounts of the holocaust, is a person describing being ushered on a train, being told, they are being relocated and they will have a hot meal and clothes and blankets when they arrive. The approach a huge hill, with a big line, the guards gleefully telling them they will get hot meals and everything else as soon as they get in, this guard of course was playing a cruel joke. His mind destroyed by the depravity of the Nazis.

Then the victim describes topping the hill to see mass graves and they arrive at a station where a Nazi looks in their mouth to see if they have any gold and silver teeth, and proceeds to yank them out before they get into the camp. That is Adolf Hitler. There is a reason people refer to him as the most evil person. Sure others killed more indirectly, but Hitler killed millions systematically and with intention. Pure hatred and pure depravity and pure existential nihilism.

Other thing these far right psychos were doing, human experimentation, vivisection, (operating on people while they are alive) to do medical experiments. Freezing people to death to see how long it would take frost bite to kill them. Mind control and brainwashing experiments. Testing drugs on them. One of the guys who was operating on living prisoners was named Joseph Mangdeleve. After the war he was sent to the U.S to work with the CIA and eventually ended up in a psychiatric hospital in Canada where he ended up operating on live human test subjects once again. All of this within full knowledge of the entire U.S, U.K, and Canadian government.

When you realize the full history of what the U.S and other right wing governments have been up to, Epstein seems fairly tame in comparison. Epstein is nowhere near the worse person the U.S protected and essentially made into a spy with diplomatic immunity.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

When you refer to Joseph Mangdeleve, are you confusing Josef Mengelev (Nazi doctor, escaped to Argentina, drowned at the beach in 1979) with Ewen Cameron, Scottish doctor involved in MK ULTRA in Canada and the US for the CIA, testing LSD on mental patients?

Cameron wasn't associated with the nazi party, although his experiments were probably inspired by Nazi work including Mengelev, who did do lots of experiments on concerntration camp victims, especially twins.

Pope Francis went on the record saying he hoped Hell is empty. Torturing even the worst person for all eternity is overkill in my opinion, maybe after 500, 5000, 5 million years of celestial reeducation, if he really put the effort in, Hitler's soul could be free. He's only human and given the absolute worst circumstances and decisions I believe any of us could end up fucking up as bad as him.

FWIW I dont really believe in an afterlife but I do want to believe in universal redemption, as difficult as that can be sometimes.

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Believe it or not there were people that have done things just as bad as Hitler that have been genocides the world round and for centuries. Hitler wouldn't be the only one in that circumstance. But in my mind fuck them all they all deserve an eternity in hell if there were such a thing. I'm hoping there's nothing after this life that way we all just disappear and dissipate and life is what it is and how we lived it is how we lived it.
