Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Even for a teaser trailer that was pretty lite on any details.

It had the one detail that matters to fans of the franchise: where it’s going to be set.

Finally. We’ve been asking for this one since Horizon 1.

It’s about time. Been wanting this setting all along.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah I skipped the last one but might actually be interested in this one

[–] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

OK ok.. Does it run on Linux?

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe? It’s Microsoft, so not natively. But Proton is pretty awesome.

Yeah, Horizon was one of the go to demonstrations for the Steam Deck when it first came out.

[–] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

OK that sounds promising. It's not like EA which will break Linux on every game due to kernel level anti-cheat.

Besides having login issues with the stupid microsoft panel, 4 and 5 ran fine. But to be honest, I don't really feel like spending money on a corporation, that doesn't give a fuck about anything other than maximizing profits through cutting every corner imaginable

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So, basically, the entire gaming industry

[–] dinckelman@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Thats why we shop indie. Having the time of my life, playing all of these incredible games

[–] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

EA is worse

What does any of that have to do with the original question? I mean you just described just about every for-profit company.

I'll probably catch a little flak, but it's sad to see the Forza name live on only through Horizons now. Motorsport was a great game.

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Please don’t let this be $80, but I’m afraid that this is likely what it’s gonna cost :/

[–] dangrousperson@feddit.org 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Judging from the past releases, I'm betting:

$60-70 (70-80€) Base Game

$80-90 (90-100€) Deluxe Edition that includes like 20% of the total cars and like a week earlier access

$100-120 (110-130€) Premium Edition that includes the Deluxe and future DLC

Plus some pre-order exclusive cars and cosmetics

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

Bro people are already jizzing their pants at the reveal this is set in Japan, you can get way more out of them than $120. Base game won’t be under $70 for sure.
And also like 2 tiers of advanced access (maybe 2 and 5 days).

[–] Takios@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wish granted, it's gonna be $90

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

Prolly gonna happen with advanced access

[–] SneakyWeasel@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

I just hope the load times dont take forever...
