Hello fellow Far Side fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.

The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist). Its surrealistic humor is often based on uncomfortable social situations, improbable events, an anthropomorphic view of the world, logical fallacies, impending bizarre disasters, (often twisted) references to proverbs, or the search for meaning in life… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Far_Side

Hope you enjoy and feel free to contribute to the community with art, cool stuff about the author, tattoos, toys and anything else, as long it’s The Far Side!

I had a T-shirt of this one back in the 90s. I believe it is the most well known Far Side comic.

How will I know that you're a university lecturer if you don't have this on your office door?

Never noticed before, but why is the door closer on the outside of the door?

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The door was installed backwards.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Must be, because the hinges are facing out as well. Means you can’t lock the door, you just pop out the pins.

It would be an unusual scenario but technically that could be the inside of the building.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then it should be a push to exit the building. :)

Not if it leads to a little porch with another door to the outside. ;^)

The joke is that the kid can solve complex equations instantly in his head, has taught himself 20 languages just from picking up newspapers and listening to the radio, and is the youngest chess grandmaster in history, but is useless in the real world.

My gifted teacher had this taped to the door of our classroom. She used white out on "Midvale" and wrote in the name of our high school.

She was pretty cool
