Nice to have it actually looked into but beyond that; no shit, what did you expect would happen?

It feels like if you just build an elaborate enough Rube Goldberg machine for killing someone it suddenly isn't considered murder anymore.

[–] EvacuateSoul@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

Well it isn't for killing; its for profit.

Is an automobile elaborate enough? Thousands of people die each year, barely any accountability. Especially if it’s a cyclist, it’s just an oopsie.

I mean yeah, they made the ER room more efficient as far as capital accumulation is considered! You come in, die, and now there's room and personnel available to take the next persons money! No more silly time and resource consuming "people being saved" nonsense here! We improved efficiency for the shareholders!

Saw this one rolling out in slow-motion some 20 years ago when HCA bought out Columbia Hospital systems.

F'kin awful. We so need a single payer to leverage equity out of the picture. (actually private equity needs to die because the billionaires are taxed again, like they used to be in the 1950's - when America was (for some things) great.

A study performed by one of the most esteemed schools in the world shows that people are dying needlessly due to this practice... and this is going to be the last we hear about it. There's no one who has the power to fix this willing to try.
