  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Flags altered in a similar way have surfaced around the Capitol.

Several Republican Hill offices received American flags bearing “obscured” swastika symbols, Rep. Dave Taylor said a day after an image surfaced of one hanging in his office.

Taylor, an Ohio Republican, said in a statement Thursday that it was part of an orchestrated campaign.

But the Hill aide — granted anonymity to speak openly — said that flag was “obvious and unusual enough for us to take a photo before throwing it out.”

“It was plainly obvious to us that there was a swastika on the flag with the naked eye,” the staffer said. There was no investigation, and the flag was thrown away, “like we would hate mail,” the staffer said.

Bullshit.

Just another “My wife did it…” GOP lie.

In a past life, the office down the hallway would definitely get some REALLY strange and fucked up stuff in the mail. And it was very common to have that "Hey, you gotta come see this" email. And taking photos wasn't uncommon.

But those were photos of it in the box or on the table. Not hung up and displayed on a bulletin board.

Yeah let's just hang it up on my office wall real quick so we can get a picture of the crazy hate mail flag hanging on my office wall!

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 40 points 16 hours ago

"New details have emerged from a coordinated investigation into the vile symbol that appeared in my office," Taylor's statement read.

Fox News said it was an optical illusion.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 13 points 15 hours ago

That article was a perfect example of gaslighting, treating quotes from people who said it was hard to notice and another that said it only showed up while taking a picture as if they were reasonable, but still quoting someone who said it was obvious and they threw it away.

Then focusing on the optical illusion bullshit for the title. Just giving all the excuses for right wingers to say it wasn't obvious.

Literally don't believe your eyes.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

What's the illusion? Illusions have effects. So they want it to look like a swastika?

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 20 points 16 hours ago

I ALSO hang up Ruses on my Wall!

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 14 points 15 hours ago

Anything but admitting you’re a filthy Nazi that deserves to be in the ground. Fucking cowardly yank. Own your racism, chicken shit pussy

[–] CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 13 points 15 hours ago

You know that might be enough reasonable doubt if not for the other dozens of stories showing Republicans being Nazi shitbags including the one this week

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 10 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Ruse? You mean because they found it? The ruse was to keep it hidden right? Right next to the pointy hat and robes?

I mean it’s possible they get fan mail. People used to send Reagan jelly beans because he liked them too.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

If you're gonna lie at least make it believable. If he said one of his staffers put it up one day when he was out and he never noticed then that would actually be a believable story.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

Except then the follow up question is "why do you have Nazis in your staff"?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Was it edgy ~~35-year-olds~~ kids?

[–] NewPerspective@lemmy.world 8 points 15 hours ago

Wow, why would anyone vote for somebody so easily tricked by Nazis?

The problem now is going to be Sora 2. Used or not, it will have a lot of fingers pointed at it for items like these.

I’m sure it’s no mistake that big tech made this available to everyone, for free, right now.

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 8 points 15 hours ago

I don't appreciate your ruse.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I'm to believe in 2025 the white house can't track who is making and sending these through USPS?

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

Well why would they track a package from turning point USA?

[–] FunctionallyLiterate@lemmy.ca 5 points 15 hours ago

The absurd amount of "budget cuts" under this admin is to ensure the truth of things gets buried/lost.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 9 points 16 hours ago

Ruses should be hanged!

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It might also have been a jape!

[–] socsa@piefed.social 1 points 9 hours ago

Just a bit of jiggery pokery

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 4 points 15 hours ago

There was no investigation, and the flag was thrown away, “like we would hate mail,” the staffer said.

You misspelled "rube" and forgot to mention that the GOP are the rubes.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

This can be put to rest quite decisively:

Get fingerprints.

Or would that undermine the prank theory?
