/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

At this point it'd be a much more notable event if that AI summary got something 100% right

When chatgpt first gained steam some of my reporting coworkers thought we'd quickly be out of a job, because VPs could just type in their request and get the report.

But after spending years and having to constantly request clarifications because of their generic emails, and have to redo reports because they'd leave out key details, or they'd say "last year" but sometimes mean last fiscal year, sometimes last calendar year and every so often the last 12 months....yeah I think we're safe

That's fair, but still...

My boss wants me to use it but half the time it doesn’t even make sense.

I’m really excited because now I have an intern I don’t have to interview or pay to blame shit on.

Wait, there were other actors BESIDES Jeffery Combs in Enterprise and DS9?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Not to my recollection. He's just that good.

We ain't getting to Terminator without going through Multiplicity at least once.

wonders idly if Combs was in Multiplicity

We all misunderstood, Judgement Day didn't happen because the AI got too smart. It happened because it's dumb as fuck and people still put it in charge of everything.

Just means the powers that be have yet to put an "AI" in charge of defense networks.

Well...

"... California Senator Scott Wiener quickly defended Anthropic, prompting Sacks to respond that Wiener's "rushing to defend Anthropic tells you everything you need to know about how closely they're working together to impose the Left's regulatory agenda"

Actually, it seems that the current government sees regulations as"left wokeism". Which doesn't surprise me at all, because if it got aligned for the better, it wouldn't work well for them.

It's hard to appear in something you're holding up on your shoulders.

Reminds me of this delusion I got the other day:
