Nixon was at 31% when he resigned. Dubya also hit the low thirties, but he didn't resign.

I think Katrina didn't help W. Neither did seeing the obvious failure of the second invasion of Iraq. I think the economy doing a swan dive was the last straw.

If there are no consequences, I don’t see how this is devastating. It’s just another day in the dumbest timeline.
I'm worried that if Republicans don't think they can win the next election they'll enact plans to completely undermine the next election. If they think they had a shot then maybe they wouldn't take the risk/effort, now they'll be less hesitant.
