The Deck has been my only gaming PC for a while lol

[–] CamelCityCalamity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Same!

This might change next year, though... I see a Steam Machine in my future.

[–] NanoooK@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

CK II on steamdeck? How easy is it to navigate the UI?

[–] rarWars@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

It takes a bit to figure out a good keybind setup and you have to use the trackpad for a lot of stuff, but it's not too bad overall. It wasn't inconvenient enough for me to grab my bluetooth keyboard at any point at least.

[–] any1th3r3@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How was E33 on the Deck? I didn't play much of it there, I was afraid parries and dodges would be a bit of a nightmare to time perfectly.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a lot better after the update a few days ago, but back when I played it I actually installed a performance mod to make it run a lot smoother. I thought it was very playable, but I'm also trash at dodging/parrying consistently. I'm assuming it was more of a skill issue than the game's performance though.

[–] galaxy_nova@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That’s good, does it still look like shit though? So far it’s been a game I just only play on desktop

Are there a lot of bots and casuals that keep these medians so low or do I need the get outside more?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The average steam user barely plays 8 hours in a week.

The only part I want to share is this:

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

You beast! I just managed to reach 58 days :(

[–] TheGrandNagus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Once again dominated by stardew valley for me

[–] stormeuh@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

The steam deck is just too ideal of a form factor to play stardew valley, isn't it

[–] Minnels@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

I don't play that much on the deck but had a couple of days off work because of sick kid so it was a life saver.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I didn’t use a keyboard and mouse once.

All controllers or VR controllers.

[–] the16bitgamer@programming.dev 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If I had to guess, the game isn't gamepad optimized i.e. CIV 5, so the game is marked as a keyboard game.

Just shows how well steam input works.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I guess so! I do use steam input. I bet it’s because I use a PS5 controller with Destiny 2. Even though it’s a Sony game, I don’t get native support.

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah I received similar wrong numbers. I am nearly 100% controller at this point but I got ~25% also.

[–] eodur@piefed.social 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Chained Echoes was just fantastic

[–] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It really is. I've heard good about Sea of Stars, which is on my shortlist.

[–] Prove_your_argument@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sea of Stars just didn’t click for me. Having a cook fight side by side two trained-for-life combatants was terrible for immersion.

I like my stories to be a bit more gritty too, it feels sanitized.

[–] Jomn@jlai.lu 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Sea of Stars is one of my all time favourite game. I love nearly every aspect of the game.

But I can understand that some aspects of it can aim a specific type of players

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

Played it this year, too. The start felt a bit slow but I really loved it!

[–] rustyfish@piefed.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hail to the King, baby 😎

I only just got a steam deck partway through the year, so that probably skewed the stats some

[–] atotayo@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How does windblown compare to dead cells? I haven't heard much of it after launch which is a shame considering how much i liked the first game.

[–] toomanypancakes@piefed.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's early access and unfinished still of course, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Coop is an absolute blast, and while they're still tweaking it the combat feels really good, and nothing seems too cheap. Plus, it's adorable. I would definitely recommend, especially if you have a friend or two you can talk into playing with you. There are public lobbies, but not many at the moment that I've seen. I usually just play solo though lol

How can they do a 2025 review when its still 2025? These reviews are getting earlier and earlier. Its becoming like the 2k games where you are buying 2k26 in the middle of 2025.

I'm one bad life event away from buying arma reforger. Please God be good to me next year. I cannot handle an arma addiction right now.

Buddy, NHL '94 on SNES came out in 1993, and NHLPA '93 came out a year earlier in 1992. Every year, cars come out with the next year's model.

I think 2 weeks before the end of the year is pretty reasonable for a year's review. That's how everybody's been doing reviews for a long time.

[–] Prove_your_argument@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Why would you not dive into something that you clearly want man? Just do it!

Let it be the bad life event that it saves you from lol

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 month ago

Because i already have squad and the games are 1hr which is manageable. I cannot manage 7hr arms games

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 5 points 1 month ago

The review period runs from January 1 - December 14; I think that's a pretty solid snapshot of a year.

The thing that gets me is they don't count any offline time, so my hours of playing sitting in my vehicle don't get logged.

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

Thank you! WTF

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago
[–] pogodem0n@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This, was a busy year. Silksong very much carried my Steam Deck usage.

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] needanke@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago

The math isn't mathing here. (Also I'm not that big of a gamer, clearly.)

Screenshot from the review showing 100% playtime on the Steamdeck and 22% of that playing Slay the Spire.

Screenshot from the review showing Slay the Spire is 77% of the playtime in total.

[–] needanke@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is expedtion 33 playable on deck for you?

I only just installed GTA5 Enhanced Edition this month and it already took over as the most played game of the year 🤨

Didn't Shadow of the Erdtree come out in the spring? My play time in ER is only slightly under GTA5EE and it was all I played through spring and summer.

[–] morgan_423@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't have a problem, I can stop gaming any time I want!

This row of games is 92% of my playtime, there were a bunch of other games from my collection but I only played them briefly here and there.

100% Deck, it's currently my only PC.

[–] stolenfat@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

man i need to learn how to play BG3 with the controller. I tried it on the deck and the controls melted my brain cause i was too used to mouse and keyboard

[–] morgan_423@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I have a M & K available, and play docked a fair percentage of the time, but when I'm docked, I still prefer the console controls over M & K for BG3.

Much more streamlined, the intractable UI is not as busy, and the whole game is much cleaner-looking (95% of what you're looking at is the game world when you have no UI elements calledup... whereas the M&K UI are taking up a chunk of screen real estate all the time).

[–] AstroLightz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Quite a diverse selection of games this year. Spent WAY too much time on Steam this year.
