Crying isn't inherently harmful, but if you suddenly start crying a lot more than usual it might be a reason to see either a doctor or a psych. It's a symptom of stuff, but if you just cry a lot normally that's fine

Not at all, aside from maybe a sore throat. Stay hydrated!

Stay hydrated!

Now I'm picturing people crying a Gatorade bottle amount of tears.

The Sadness Quencher

You're probably just exhausted from the crying, I wouldn't worry too much. Drink some water, eat something and chill. 👍

I feel so much better after crying

Apparantly its something called Endorphins

But I'd try to hide the crying from the public, people can be very cruel

I remember when I first came to the US, I was 8 years old, I didn't speak English, was so confused about everything, and I'm introverted on top of that, so I cried often in class.

And everyone just called me a "crybaby"

I'm cis-male so it's even more humiliating...

Even now as a young adult, I still cry often.

And now it's not just bullying...

I read the news, its filled with so much suffering.

Wars

Oppression

Genocide

Racism/Xenophobia

Propaganda

Resurgence of Authoritarianism/Totalitarianism

...

it's bleak

...

So I get it

But it's fine

There's nothing wrong with it

But again, society is cruel about displays of emotions, so I'd recommend it's best to hide this fact from others.

Shit, man, I cry at poignant songs or movies. Not sobs but definitely someone is cutting onions territory. You at least are triggered by legit bad shit. I just let my emotions be manipulated by pretty words.

But sometimes, I'm watching a movie or listening to music with my daughter and it just hits me, I'm so happy that we have better messages for girls today than we did when I was growing up. She has super heroes and equality and none of this boys will be boys shit.

This world is such shit right now, but man if we raise the next generations right maybe there's a chance. And that tenuous hope... it makes me feel all the things... and it just leaks out.

But yeah, gotta hide it because it's weird to care about stuff I guess.

I hope stuff gets better for you too. Take care c:

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I've had moments in my life where I sit down and cry for a long while and it physically hurts afterwards. I get headaches, my eyes hurt and get puffy, my stomach hurts from all those contractions…

And it's normal, in the sense that crying is something people do. You're not alone.

But still, it's not fun. Crying hurts.

I'd only be concerned if I got those symptoms randomly, without even crying.

Beyond the physical concerns, I hope you're doing alright. I don't know what you're going through, but I hope you can find meaning and love.

See a professional. There are multiple possible causes. Most are not physically dangerous but social and psychological effects are not to be ignored, and almost all causes have treatments available.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudobulbar_affect

While not as profoundly disabling as the physical symptoms of the most common diseases that cause it (such as ALS), PBA may significantly influence individuals' social functioning and their relationships with others

[–] skrlet13@feddit.cl 4 points 1 day ago

This doesn’t usually happen

If you mean "when I cry don't have those symptoms" I would check with a doctor if possible.

If you mean "I don't usually cry" it is probably your body still adapting to "too much emotion at once". Be gentle to yourself and rest a while

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Have some water and take a few deep breaths. You’ll be ok.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

Could you be a bit run down or maybe lacking something? Iron, Vit c ect.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

It's possible you had a mild panic attack or anxiety attack. If it worries you or it's happening more often then you'd like, talk to your doctor.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

Nah, I cry almost every day some months.
