This was right near me and I didn't even hear about it until more than a day later. My reaction was as follows:

Oh. Huh.

We have a problem, and I desperately want to do more than preaching about it to the Lemmy choir and making random one-off comments to my family about transit, ya know? I'll keep trying.

This happens every winter, doesn't it? It's basically a common occurrence... like a school shooting...

If only there was something to be done. I'll be sending my thoughts and prayers their way

Reducing car dependency would improve mental health so much, it would have a knock on effect on the other.

I always wonder why in North America it's not common to have cross over lanes on the interstate and on highways.

They help for construction and could be extremely handy for situations like this.

We do have them during construction, and if you look closely you can often see where they used to be, but they're rarely kept in place after construction. Weird that they go to the extra work of removing them instead of just leaving them blocked with jersey barriers.

Here in Canada we have them. They are often used for snow plow turn arounds, construction staging, or radar. Sometimes people use them to turn around however this is illegal.
