Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

But actually the democratic candidate said this one thing i dont like and didn't pass these random virtue tests I came up with, so I'm just not going to vote for them at all and anyone who votes for them is a genocide!!!!

I heard a democrat made a statement about gender!!

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

Time to teach DNC a lesson! Again! Maybe the fascists will magic themselves away this time.

Yes, many of the Democrats are a waste of fucking space, granted. I get it. You all should be voting in the primaries if you want to change that.

But can be PLEASE for the love of fucking Sweet Baby Jesus remove the Republican fascist enablers from power? Can we at least give it a fucking try this time?

My hope is that sometime in my lifetime people will finally realize that letting go of the rope isn't a good strategy for winning a tug-o-war. (So far, so bad.)

Geee, maybe they should have waited a little bit before going full on Christofascist on their constituents? I dunno. I’m not a smart man.

Wait for what? This is literally their best chance.

Presidents almost always lose seats in Congress during midterms, and the Republicans have a pretty narrow gap as it is. If they waited until November, they'd have probably lost anyway, at least the House.

They are only surprised because they had their boot on the neck of the population for years while lining their pockets.

You must contrive for your future rulers another and a better life than that of a ruler, and then you may have a well-ordered State; for only in the State which offers this, will they rule who are truly rich, not in silver and gold, but in virtue and wisdom, which are the true blessings of life. Whereas if they go to the administration of public affairs, poor and hungering after their own private advantage, thinking that hence they are to snatch the chief good, order there can never be; for they will be fighting about office, and the civil and domestic broils which thus arise will be the ruin of the rulers themselves and of the whole State.

And…

You have again forgotten, my friend, I said, the intention of the legislator, who did not aim at making any one class in the State happy above the rest; the happiness was to be in the whole State, and he held the citizens together by persuasion and necessity, making them benefactors of the State, and therefore benefactors of one another; to this end he created them, not to please themselves, but to be his instruments in binding up the State.

"Sometimes I think the 'Panicans' in our party would be better off spending their money on Depends to help control all their bedwetting," one national GOP strategist told Axios.

The GOP is trying to ban FUD from the party like r/wallstreetbets. I've never heard someone be so hostile to something that they also dismissed. That quote sounds canned; something they thought about.

Like r/wallstreetbets in what way

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

C’mon leftists! Remind everyone that voting is a seekrit scheme by the oppressors to steal the work of the proletariat! Make sure republicans stay in power!
