lol, this is shockingly similar to a house in my neighborhood. I'm surprised at how similar the trucks are.

Neo-eclectic barf bag slop architecture, that brick siding is probably just big stucco and foam panels. Even a khrushchevka has more soul.

They just feel insecure because you can actually ride a bike competently, I think.

strong small dick energy over there

The stereotype is so prevalent, that it's actually weird that cars haven't gotten smaller. I guess their brains are equally small to have not thought "maybe I should get a SmartCar so people think my dick is huge."

I think part of it is that being able to get by without a car on a daily basis in America usually means that you own premium real estate that is close to the workplace and crucial infrastructure.

Having said that, it's also just terminal car-brain shining through.

The vast majority of the problem is bad (i.e. density-restricting) zoning, not bad bike/ped/transit infrastructure itself. The latter is a symptom of the former.

At least in my city this isn't really true. It's an illusion of the cost of housing typically being measured by cost per square foot. But when you compare cost per unit, it ends up being similar. In fact if you reduce your vehicle costs by using other transit modes, you may even save money. However, this does require knowledge of how to travel car free, which not everyone has. It also may require some longer travel times on certain errands which can't be done in the urban core. But this is usually an occasional inconvenience vs the long daily commute, so you still save time.

However this is just my experience and it may vary by city. Also I was comparing middle class areas, if you are willing the live in areas with high crime/poverty you might save more money.

There is a very good video from CityNerd where he does that comparison of the car free dividend, called "Walkable Cities But They Keep Getting More Affordable"

From the description: If you ditched your car, could you afford to leave the suburbs for a great urban neighborhood? We'll answer the question in the 26 biggest US cities.

Guess it's time to start acting like it.

Why yes, I am better than you because I own a bicycle instead of a car. I just flex my muscles to propel myself to Aldi, without giving asthma to children in the process.

Is this AI? Wtf is going on with that garage wall and why is there a door suspended over the opening?

[–] otp@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Hah! I guess that door is so you can drop down into the truck bed. Great for the kids!

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Might be, or it might be a deliberately stupid photoshop done by a person (showing how nonsensical McMansions are, by using a carport instead of a garage and a door to a nonexistent Juliet balcony, I guess?).

AI slop doesn't necessarily violate the rules, though, at least not for the moment.

[–] nightwatch_admin@feddit.nl 5 points 2 days ago

Oh my.. ai slop is more coherent than McMansion architecture.
