  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

Why does this have to be framed like an opinion piece though? 82% say? Look at the data. The costs are up for everything, the shrinkflation is also accelerated, and everything is moving to a subscription model where nobody owns anything. ITS NOT AN OPINION IT IS THE REALITY OF LATE STAGE CAPITALISM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

There are Consumer Price Index (CPI), Producer Price Index (PPI), and Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index.

There's headline CPI (everything) vs core CPI (food and fuel excluded) and they had changed which one they were reporting to the media at the start of this admin. They're not technically lying in this case, more like moving the goalposts.

This sounds correct. Red states being the biggest welfare queens, I’d say being aligned with people who hate poor people is getting you exactly what you voted for. Sure, dems dislike poor people but at least they’re better at hiding the fact that they want them all dead and instead use the people as institutionalized slave labor.

Well yeah, that's how it works. The percentages spoke of are the rate of increase and inflation is cumulative.

My stats prof in college actually used to do this, and the average guess was always within half a degree of the true temperature. Still not worth doing given that thermometers exist, but interesting nevertheless.

I just saw a clip on MeidasTouch of some Republicunt staring straight into the camera and denying a simple, verifiable fact like what the GDP was under Biden, though, so these people are very good at lying to others as well as themselves.

TBF, the reporter (correspondent?) was telling him that his claims about GDP under Biden were false, and he could look into the numbers and easily verify that fact for himself.

The guy just kept on with his bullshit. Classic Republican, being "strong" and showing "leadership", as RWAs (Right Wing Authoritarians) interpret those concepts.

This is really the crux of our current problems. The right wing mindset adores people that say things assertively and never apologize, even if they are just completely full of shit.

Inflation has always been fake, under both republicans and democrats. Hedonic adjustments mean that as your car gets worthless features, like not having door handles, the money supply grows, then food gets more expensive. As people substitute for cheaper food as prices rise the basket then changes, so inflation is hidden as people substitute steak for ground beef; grocery stores then shrinkflate goods so quality also goes down. Housing is almost entirely eradicated from the CPI, they instead ask a boomer who bought their house for a sack of potatoes what they think their rent would theoretically be.

If you measure prices in a commodity like gold, which doesnt grow in supply 8% a year, its far clearer what real inflation is. This is how the stock market can triple every decade while it doesnt seem like we are any more productive, going from iphone 7 to iphone 17 didnt triple the size of our economy.
