Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

So embarrassing. What a stupid turd

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 24 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Eh, there's a video in the article, I'm not convinced it wasn't just him changing tracks mid-sentence again.

But holy hell, listening to him talk, that man needs to be in a home. He is struggling to hold himself up and talk.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 hour ago

He said it like 6 times. That didn’t seem at all like he was changing tracks, to me at least.

[–] CatZoomies@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Can you imagine being that elderly while trying to hold yourself up, talk, and keep your bowel movement inside?

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 16 points 4 hours ago

I could see a very generous interpretation of that statement where "President of the United States" and "Gavin Newscum" were technically two separate thoughts, but trying to make sense of this moron is impossible so I'm just going to assume he said what everybody thinks he said and conclude that his brain is completely mush at this point.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 74 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I think a president should not have learning disabilities, OK?

Counterpoint:

Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had!'

  • Trump's professor at Wharton
[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

And he was probably much much smarter then compared to now

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

Hey, some really amazing people have dyslexia, you know.

(Yes, I know what you meant)

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 30 points 6 hours ago

Gavin Newsom often mixes up words and letters.

Donald Trump often accidentally and often deliberately mixes up facts and events.

Which would you prefer?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 90 points 8 hours ago (4 children)

This child fucker speaks like a preteen.

No wonder conservatives identify with him.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 14 points 5 hours ago

I imagine one of those American movies where the aliens come from space, meeting humanity officially for the first time, and gets to meet Trump as the person we have selected as our leader.

That must be something.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 26 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

That's insulting to preteens.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Nah preteens can and do grow out of it, just like toddlers grow out of shitting their pants, and baby's outgrow incoherent babbling

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Most babies grow out of it. Some babies keep doing it well into their second term as president.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 hours ago

I was going to ask, "incoherent babbling or pants shitting?" But I realized the answer is Yes.

An actual baby POTUS would probably be an upgrade.

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

Trump sounds like predictive text autocompleting as you go.

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 102 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

Direct quote from the video:

“The president of the United States, Gavin Newscum admitted that he has learning disabilities, dyslexia… everything about him is dumb.”

The way he says it doesn’t make it sound like he’s stating it in a possible future tense.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 50 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

It also makes me think his entourage has selected Newsom as their top choice for controlled opposition.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I'd say it's more that Newsom has been publicly mocking Trump for a while.

Trump is a narcissist. In the 1980s a writer for Mad Magazine called Trump a "short fingered vulgarian". Trump is still obsessed with telling people that he doesn't have "small hands".

The narcissism is why Trump is obsessed with Newsom.

I'm almost completely convinced that Trump's entire team are fully enabling him in his dementia. Prefrontal Temporal Dementia makes a person more erratic, it removes filters, it messes with your ability to process language, but it doesn't initially impact memory.

This is a generalization of the dementia because it's an umbrella term for a dozen different types that all attack that region of the brain.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

a writer for Mad Magazine called Trump a “short fingered vulgarian”

It was Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair, in an article in Spy magazine.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

That's what I get for relying on my own memory. I should look that shit up more often, especially in a comment talking about dementia. It's not a good look.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

That's a fair point. It could just be incompetence. It's concerning that it's hard to tell the difference.

[–] Hackworth@piefed.ca 32 points 8 hours ago

This sounds like his normal word salad. He'll just interject with the topic instead of pausing. But man, listening to him snort and fumble through his words trying to throw shade about dyslexia is just...

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago

It looks bad out of context. He probably shouldn't have changed it mid-sentence.

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com 27 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (3 children)

Even before trump I felt scummy being an American. Like the guys going to leave a permanent shit stain on this country. And it's not just him really... Like he really shows off what many Americans are like. It's engrained in our culture. I wish I had the money to become an expat.

[–] NotAnonymousAtAll@feddit.org 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I wish I had the money to become an expat.

Do you have any job qualifications that are in demand? That might open doors into other countries without needing a lot of cash up front.

[–] NotAnonymousAtAll@feddit.org 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry to hear it. I hope you find some way to get out of there soon.

I'm slowly working on it... But still if I get it... I'll be struggling to not be homeless in a new country.

[–] The_Lurker@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

It's just media control. Republicans (in general) do not watch anything outside of carefully crafted media.

[–] homes@piefed.world 7 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

I don’t like that I’m in this comment.

Final nap would be preferable

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 15 points 7 hours ago (2 children)
[–] homes@piefed.world 7 points 7 hours ago

Lol, I wish

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

He does that every day when he naps in public and shits his pants...

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 4 points 6 hours ago

That's a soil nap.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago

Oh man, I'm glad our Commander In Chief doesn't have any learning disabilities...
