Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Funny how it's only the Democrats who ever resign from the bad things they do.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's like the MAGA that screech "If all the Epstein files are released then Democrats will go to jail too because they are in there!" and we're all like "GOOD! All criminals should be held accountable."

I gave one of them that response once. They just looked at me weird, like they couldn't comprehend that I actually meant it. A few seconds later they just left the room without a word.

I've had the same kind of thing happen in various circumstances. I think they really, deep down, don't believe you on this, and if you manage to convince them of this, it's like something shorts out in their head.

They really just cannot comprehend that. Not the marks in the base, anyway.

Their thought leaders do comprehend, and use that kind of morality as a weapon, because they know Democrats actually GAF about citizens and outcomes, etc. Republicans will just hold the entire nation hostage because they don't.

They can't comprehend the idea of NOT being a hypocrite

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

The difference is SHAME. At times it's not felt by Democrats, but it's NEVER felt by Republicans.

In case you hadn't heard, Gonzalez says he's resigning too. Of course, he didn't do that until after the Dems announced they would be down a seat.

Well, there are people like PEDOnald, however. Same with Lutnick.

Still seeing ZERO consequences for those two.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (3 children)

I mean, clearly not

Almost always sure, but Republicans resign fairly regularly still

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago

there's a better answer

Somebody must've lit a fire under his ass to get him to do it.

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

When was the last one before him?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

How many are you going to ask for?

Why can't you admit you were obviously wrong, or at least just not respond?

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 0 points 5 days ago

Well there was clearly one. But I still think the percentage is quite low.

Meanwhile; the biggest pedophile rapist piece of shit criminal is somehow the fucking president of the United States of America, still.... business as usual. Make it make sense.

“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff and constituents for mistakes in judgement I’ve made in my past,” Swalwell said in his statement announcing his plans to resign. “I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”

Oooo he did some shit.

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Nobody wants to do that.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

Phrasing ...

[–] Janx@piefed.social 8 points 5 days ago

Bye, bitch! Hope any victims get full justice. Also, it'd be nice if Republicans held their representative accountable...

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago

Good. Now can the president resign?
