I'm assuming the male octopus knows plenty well.
I've never seen an octopus spell "no" either. Presumably due to Black Swan effect.
Pretty advanced misogyny to personify octopuses and then blame the "women" octopuses for rejecting sexual advances.
Isn't the reply doing the same thing to male octopi?
The reply is stooping to the same level by personifying the octopi and applying human gender theory onto them, but it's doing so specifically to show that this framing is misogynistic. It's not as simple to clearly demonstrate this sexism if you stop personifying the octopi. Because there's layers of misconstruance, it's much simpler to address the layer you specifically have issue with rather than all layers at once.
It's not really a simple issue to handle cleanly without becoming clunky with explanations. The same communication dilemma happens with STEM trying to address misinformation.
Disagreeing with a misogynist isn't misandry.

For most octopuses, the ultimate life stage is senescence. It is the breakdown of cellular function without repair or replacement. It may last from weeks to a few months at most.
Males senesce after maturity, while for females, it comes after they lay an egg clutch.
Why is their biology so fucking stupid?
Because it worked.
Evolution is just random mutations that may or may not work out.

Same energy as the people who handed out bricks to pedestrians to wave threateningly at cars so they wouldn't get any funny ideas at the intersection.
Those are often "prop" bricks that are light enough to carry effortlessly. The handbags otoh weigh as much as the real one.
