1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

Gotta keep up to date with my vaccines.

A few weeks ago, I got another booster of my TBE vaccine.

I also need to get a Shingles shot.

(less) Fun fact, in the past Shingles was also called "helveteseld" in Swedish, it translates to "hell's fire" in English.

For those old enough to need shingles shots (and likely some younger folks as well), check to see if you need a measles booster as well. I don't know the data for most countries, but in the States, the advice is:

If you were born before 1957, you're presumed immune (measles was incredibly prevalent).

If you were born after 1957 and vaxxed before 1967, you should get a booster shot (the original vaccine was weaker).

If you were vaxxed between 1967 and 1989, you should consider a booster shot (they thought you only needed one shot but you really needed two).

If you were vaxxed after 1989, you are presumed immune.

OP, that's fascinating about the Swedish name for shingles! And thank you for protecting your health!

Got my tetanus one the other week. Hurts just like I remember as a kid!

On the bright side, it hurts a bit less than tetanus.

Working construction they’ll just give you a booster anytime you come in for an injury and it’s “expired”.

I haven’t had shingles myself but my mother-in-law got it in December and I can believe the name

I'm due for my singles booster. My doctor said wait until I can take a few days off. The first knocked me out for a day and she says the second shot is worse.

I got shingles ten years ago and it still burns across my back if I get stressed out.
