Approved Bots
Seriously, how are there still so many people on meta? What percentage are bots is the real question π€·ββοΈ
Every one one of my friends and family use it daily.
And a huuuuuge sell is marketplace. Literally no one touches Craigslist anymore. So if you wanna buy used from people, you literally need marketplace.
I used craigslist just last week, but yea marketplace is a big part of facebooks market reliance
"Literally no one?" My partner and I just picked up a couch from a couple thru Craiglist, all of us aged around 30 years old. We both love to read the Missed Connections posts on there. I agree that facebook's marketplace has a good hold on ubiquity at the moment, but nobody "literally" needs it.
There are parts of the world where the Facebook app basically is the Internet. Places where most people dont own a laptop, but everyone has a cell phone and phone service comes bundled with discounted Facebook data. Their hold goes way beyond social networking to, local businesses and even government services dont have webpages, they have Facebook pages only. Every game people play runs through Facebook, and all their saves are locked up with them. Every video people post or watch runs through Facebook and its hyper localized algorithm. It would take generations to displace them.
a lot of you consider facebook + whatsapp + instagram usage covers a large chunk of thr western sphere
WhatsApp is extremely popular, even among people who don't use any other Meta services.

Itβs probably because Israel was getting bombed last month and their bots were temporarily unavailable.

I can't wait to see Facebook to go away.
One of side hustle I do is tech support for senior people in my community. And amount of time I have to deal with stuff related to Facebook is staggering.
So many of seniors have multiple accounts because they don't understand how it work and just hit whatever buttons they see pop up until they get back into Facebook feed. So it's not user friendly and even worse, UI get changed constantly and I have to Google around across multiple threads different forums, etc to find answers. And so many more issues, I couldn't list them all.
Itβs fun being part of that number.
I deleted my Facebook in 2013, before it was cool. π
I deleted mine in 2010, when Stan Marsh showed us how (s014e4). I think it was pretty cool by then already.
That's awesome. Facebook is a freaking plague.
Facebook will announce some new feature, spin up a few million more bots, and have a glowing report for the investors next month.
20 million actual users or 20 million ai bots.
I'd assume the bot count is increasing, not decreasing.

Fuck Meta
Old people are dying
I'm so old I remember when Facebork was just for young people.
I'm so old I remember when Facebook didn't exist :) Or Zuck, in fact.
Shit, I remember when Nixon resigned. I also remember thinking that Nixon was as bad as Republicans could ever get.
same. I keep thinking "it can't get worse than this," and republicans say: "Hold my beer."
This fucking site, I swear... I want to delete my account. But my account is blocked. I never used Facebook on another device than my PC, never on mobile. And to unlock my account to delete it, I have to... log in from another device. No other way. I tried everything, and the best is, their fucking customer centre is a useless chatbot. I hate this.
I deleted my account and it was reactivated 3 years later because they didnβt want to show less users to shareholders
wonder if you told them you moved to the EU and they needed to comply with GDPR
Wouldn't be amazing that some kind of hacker group would delete accounts on request, as long as these accounts aren't actively used?
I'm in the same boat. I even tried emailing them my license. There is nothing I can do to delete my account from highschool.
Good to see people may finally be waking up to the idea that these companies are trash.
We feed meta billions of dollars and all our data, watch out what they are going to do, they already approached the fediverse and tried to make their move there.
I never got it anyway, right from the beginning. Why would I want to tell everybody my business, and why would I want to know everybody else's business?
I opened an account in my name at the beginning, so I could lock it down, but I never did anything with it. No profile info, posts, nothing. I have to do some Instagram for my business, but it's very inconsistent. Now and then I get a good photo, and I'll think to post it, but rarely.
Yeah, well, they went on a banning spree, getting rid of anyone and everyone speaking out against Trump, Cuckerburg, and the Nazi regime. Including me.
That's a good start.
It's almost like it really fucking sucks.
good :)
Botbook
They are reporting "family daily active users" and I assume that this "family" means all of their apps. They are reporting 3.56 billion DAU, but Whatsapp alone has 3.3 billion users according to some sources. So we really do not know how Facebook or Instagram are doing from those numbers - and it does make sense that user numbers are dropping when Russia is restricting access to WhatsApp & Co and Iran is switching off its internet.
They probably went to other social media platforms. Not really a win.
