Why you should know: This is important for a majority of Americans, who consume "drugs" like cannabis and psychedelics, because law enforcement will be willingly conscripted into violating your peace and civil rights for religious gain. Drugs are dangerous primarily because LEOs are violent and eager to punish perceived heresies. This effort by the Trump Administration is yet another coup against normal, good people and should be obviously evil to you.

The more you know...

Rule 2 violation. Please edit the beginning of the post with "Why you should know." And remove the unsourced medical advice.

You can message me when done and I'll unlock it.

Your post will be deleted if not corrected in 24 hours.

Unless you have a gas chromatography device embedded in everyone's waste sewage pipe how would that work? You'd only ever know that some people in a neighborhood are doing drugs, you wouldn't know who or how much and you wouldn't know who sold it only who consumed it.

Also a less than one hour old account posting rage bait is suspect as hell.

[–] HeHoXa@lemmy.zip 63 points 1 month ago (1 children)

IMO this administration values psychological impact well over function.

Just making the claim probably accomplishes their goal. Whatever ridiculous half measure they think of to "follow through" is an afterthought

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Correct. They know they don't have the means, manpower, or will power to completely subjugate everyone, especially when only %30 of the population (max) actually agrees with what they are doing.

They are hoping that people will 'self police' and comply with whatever bullshit they come up with.

[–] MalReynolds@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

If everyone is breaking some law, everyone is insecure.

[–] HeHoXa@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

This rings more true to me than trying to make people self police. Just make them feel guilty, weak, targeted.

Rings even more true that they're just pandering to their base

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

I fear they're right

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Detection is easy, you just have RFK Jr go around doing taste tests of the sewage for drugs

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fuck dude that made me laugh in the break room at work lol. Lightened up my day a bit too thank you.

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

You're welcome for my service

[–] leoj@piefed.social 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Yeah but you can target enforcement efforts to entire communities with lots of drugs in their wastewater, offer federal grants / money to police departments to hire special officers for this task (I bet a religious school trains this special kind of officer). Many insidious ways to weaponize our sewage.

fucked up.

[–] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Get white van.

Go to rich neighborhood.

Wear hard hat and hi-vis vest, make fake name badge.

Tell them you're from the toilet company and doing a toilet inspection. Will only be a moment, any toilet will do.

Flush a handful of cold pills and a poppy seed muffin.

Repeat.

Rich neighborhood has meth problem.

[–] tristynalxander@mander.xyz 11 points 1 month ago

As if they don't already have drug problems...

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Hell, just find an accessible sewer cleanout and use that. No need to trick your way into a house.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

As if they'd actually bother checking the rich neighborhoods, those aren't the people they want to go after

[–] nixfreak@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s the same way that we monitor infection rates , it’s not individual it’s per region.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Region is far too broad for it. They can narrow it down to districts within cities. Your sentiment is still valid, that there's a lot of people there so they can't target individuals, or even streets. But they can use that data for increasing police presence. Any data given to fascists is dangerous.

I think it would be to narrow down which communities on which to focus more enforcement, but you're 100% about OP feeling like a ragebait bot. What kind of sn is "solutions"?

[–] Fluffy_Ruffs@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Interesting considering many rural / red areas of the country are also more likely to be on a septic system and therefore can't have their sewage monitored.

[–] Cataphract@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Commented above, it's actually worse for septic tank systems. Your sewage is collected by a business (with your particular address and name associated with billing) and processed at some of the same facilities the monitoring equipment would be setup at. You would have years of drug use stored as evidence (and the tank on your property for further evidence) and they would have a better case of probable cause to investigate your particular residence instead of a county/town wide report.

[–] Fluffy_Ruffs@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Septic trucks usually stop at a few different houses before they're full, so the waste from several families ends up all mixed together. You'd have to mandate the collection and analysis of a single home at a time for what you said to be true. It would totally change the logistics of the industry.

Most people only pump their tanks every few years, so you’d be looking at a much longer history rather than what’s happening right now like you would with sewer water analysis. I just don't see how data that old would be relevant.

[–] Casterial@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If only the government took this energy and used it against pedophiles like trump

Why did you spell pedophile twice?

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

I feel like this would be illegal in Washington state. We already ruled in our supreme courts that our waste, including what is in our trash cans, is considered private. I guess we get to sue Trump, again, if this happens

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And, of course,

The administration also aims to apply artificial intelligence technologies to screen cargo for illicit drugs at ports of entry, examine electronic health records to "identify patients at high risk of overdose" and create search algorithms to detect emerging threats, the plan says.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I don't know about you, but I signed up for a govt FOR the people BY the people, not this AI bullshit enslaving us for billionaires.

[–] BygoneNeutrino@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

...I'm fairly certain monitoring waste waters to determine the rate of drug use is a common and widely used procedure. Like, it is happening and it has been happening for a while now.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, they have been monitoring the amount of various drugs for as long as I've been paying attention.

Now the religious leo bullshit, that is entirely expected and I don't have the words to say how much I hate it. But like i guess it's just one more front to fight

it ends up being red states

sip

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

And the "good people in red states deserve it for being outnumbered" sentiment from the "fuck you we got ours" states continues.

[–] leoj@piefed.social 9 points 1 month ago

why don't they build their little drug free paradise far away and leave the rest of us the fuck alone.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Jokes on them. I have a septic system.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 month ago

What a colossal waste of money

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They are going to ignore the fact drugs are in every neighborhood. No need to add to that sentence. They will though, pretend this is the the proof to move nIce into a poor democrat majority neighborhoods.

Edit: "poor" may be an unnecessary adjective as well.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Today is a good day to be on a septic system.

um like where are the sensors. so they know drug use in city increased? so?

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

Just off the top of my head, blue cities will "skyrocket" in use, giving the feds another reason to harass people there.

[–] maccentric@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What are LEOs in this context? All I got is Low Earth Orbit

[–] Cataphract@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This sounds like something they would do in Saudi.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 1 month ago

That's their role model

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

They're going to be selective in their sampling. They're not going to sample rich white neighborhoods.

[–] trackball_fetish@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 month ago

thisain'tadderall lookin validated more and more everyday

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m gonna go ahead and be completely alarmist and say that it’s so RFK Jr. has an excuse to throw people into his “wellness” farms.

I’m sure it will be concentrated wherever Don jr, kegsbreth and Patel live

[–] K1nsey6@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

And they're going to use palantir to do it the same way that palantir got it's claws further into government by tracking covid wastewater

[–] VoodooAardvark@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Get to work everyone! Let’s see who can top the leaderboard!
