Ned's dead baby, Ned's dead.

If only. I would follow.

basically what every panel of JoJo's bizarre adventure looks like to me

who would've guessed that the j in jomer j. simpson was silent?

I know that this is Invincible, but my first thought was JoJo.

Lisa: "When the Jazzman's testifying, a faithless man believes."

“That’s a paddling”

This is an invincible reference right? It’s gotta be

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The skull has the same break and Grandpa Simpson is literally drawn like Conquest.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I don’t get the reference

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

I kinda get it in that this is a drawing of Homer Simpson don in an anime/manga style. And Mr sparkles was an og(ish) Simpsons episode centering on homers likeness to a Japanese soap brand's mascot/logo.

There was an episode where Homer found his face on laundry detergent or something, turns out it was a combination of a fish and a light bulb through a corporate merger, in Japan. One of the classic Simpsons episodes.

The yellow man is from the simpsons

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's from the show Invincible.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not sure that explains the reference, unless the person has also seen the show invincible, and I assume the specific episode this is referencing

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I mean, I don't know that there's much more to explain. There's a group of badass supes that are a whole lot of trouble. But you kinda get the impression that they're trouble from the picture anyways.

So if you haven't seen it, I don't know that there's much more to explain. I could go into WHO some of them are imitating like the skull, Thragg, or Conquest. But then I'm just explaining the show. I don't know that any of that is relevant to explain this except to confirm that they're directly mixed with characters from the show (bad guys).

Flanders being a viltrumite the whole time explains a bunch

Stupid sexy Flanders

I love that there is still a hint of the Freddie Mercury mustach shape on Homer.

Do you not see that I am disrespectful to dirt?!?!!

Insolent Monkey! (From Journey to the West, a chinese classic, about sun wukong the handsome monkey king that made war on heaven, inspired perhaps by Hanuman in hindu mythology. They used a lot of phrasing like like the title.)

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The title is a Simpsons reference. Which is a spoof on Japanese cartoons.
