An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

Cycling in a pair of thongs? Brave move there mate.

Luckily I saw that video one time about what things are called in USA/UK/AUS. Until my brain recalled that, I was really confused about this comment

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

It would be a very different kind of video if we saw him wearing the wrong kind of thong.

thongs

🎼🎵Do you come from the land down under? 🎶

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

At least they were wearing two of them.

You aren’t tough until you do it with your clipless pedals for that test ride

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I had a friend in elementary school who lost a big toe to bicycle spokes. Gruesome AF. I never wore open toe shoes on a bike again.

Good enough for going up and down the street once to test it out

Just giving the feet pics away for free? A man of the people, I see.

[–] galaxy_nova@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Every time I see someone’s feet hanging out it’s just guaranteed someone makes this comment lmao.

We all have our parts to play. Some big, some small

Since you already got positive feedback on the quality footwear, I'll just add:

Gotta roll up that right pant leg! It's an important fashion and bicycle culture statement (also getting it caught in the gear is quite uncomfortable)

Yeah.. The one thing still. Missing is the guard for the trousers.

The new Jedi order

Heck yeah, looks smooth as

Got the dogs out on the bike my dude!

I gotta do the same on my mountain bike - derailleur front and rear need adjustment, the little window to see what gear you're in is faded over, and the chain is a little rusty. My front suspension forks have a bit of rust too

Maybe I'll be making my own post in a couple weeks where I've done the same, sans the dogs ;)

I believe he's saying your bare feet (way of saying your feet hurt in the south is "my dogs are barking" or "my dogs are tired").

[–] cubism_pitta@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

Nice job man. Running smooth and shifting smooth is what it’s all about!

[–] JayleneSlide@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, don't just leave the rest of us dull folk hanging! What all did you install? I see a Deore triple crank and Alivio (Altus? Acera?) front derailleur.

[–] Nooodel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

New chain rings, new cassette, new chain

[–] LuigiMaoFrance@lemmy.ml 2 points 23 hours ago

Right on. Did the same thing to my bike recently. New front chainring, new derailleur, chain, new hanger & cassette. Rides like new.
