Why doesn't this ban apply to hard liqours? Why am I allowed to trip vodka in the library?

Im guessing literature professors.
Rum Dingers are excellent study aides.
this seems more about protecting the books from the way people crack their drinks open.
Soak a dictionary in bud light the night before, then you just rip out a handful of pages at a time, boom. Now who is a degenerate failure and a worthless blemish on decent society, Grandma?
The real pro tips are always in the comments.
So... study whiskey is ok?
Of course.
It'd be barbaric otherwise
I mean, no one is going to do calculus sober
I actually derive better after a few drinks!

Never drink and derive.
don't drink and derive!
Did you know that 1 in 5 car crashes involve a drunk driver? That means that in 4 out of 5 crashes, everyone is completely sober! It is way safer to drive while intoxicated! Pour yourself another cup, it's the only way to be responsible.
Of course. But for gods sake - no seltzers!
This message does not apply to hard liquors.
I’m very curious as to why, but I won’t argue.
They have a resealable top. The library is most likely concerned about spills. Most of them have a no cans policy.
Beer dries sticky, does hard liquor dry out clean? It's mostly water and alcohol so it might be better
Grain Vodka is the only one that leaves no traces. I knew a bartender who would clean his customer's glasses with vodka when he saw they were dirty.
Generally relatively clean, though flavored liquors may contain sugar and most liqueurs do.
Opening cans is very distracting.
What about a bottle in a paper bag? That could be just as distracting!
There's other good speculation on the reasoning but I wonder if it's due to the younger staff put in charge of posting this notice. Maybe they pestered management about the specific reasoning until they determined that hard liquor did not meet the provided definition of restricted items, then added the last sentence as a form of protest.
Duh, obviously you need hard liquor for hard study. It's pretty hard.
I assumed it's because the tenured faculty come in to do their research with a pocket flask.
So the library leadership cut an exception for themselves, probably.
Study shots it is then, got it.
So you can't crack a cold one to relax but getting shitfaced is absolutely fine?
Where do I sign up?
The cracking bit is the issue, they don’t want a beer volcano. Vodka isn’t carbonated.
Vodka isn’t carbonated.
Usually at least. Big Clive did put some in the sodastream https://youtube.com/watch?v=8kK-QUjOl0Q
Well so long as I can have my study whiskey
I had a 6 AM start microbiology lab. In order to get myself going, I brought a bottle of wine carefully poured into a bottle of Gatorade.
I fucking loved that class.
Also our TA was a smoke show.
Alcoholic?
You bet!
It’s not the booze that’s banned it’s the can
if that were the case they could just write "no canned beverages" or "no drinks without resealable lids" etc. there's no reason to bring booze into it at all. so if that was their intent then this is really poor communication.
I assume VT is like what I've read about the USA where people can't walk around outside with open alcohol.
Other canned drinks can just be brought out when you're leaving, but you need to try to conceal beer. That'd lead to unnecessary spills.
These people aren't your friends
Fascists :(
I misread this and immediately thought, “I wouldn’t go to the library without my study bear."
“You’ve got this, babe!”
