  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

When do we revolt? This shit is getting really fucking tiresome.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

We revolt once someone says, “fuck it, fine. I will revolt.” (Remembers Luigi) Or, well damn. I guess when enough people… (Remembers that MAGA was technically a revolt) nevermind.

[–] pirate2377@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

So, our tax dollars going to feed the poor or ensuring everyone has quality health care is unfair to the tax payer....but the ball room that benefits no one but the president is completely fair? It's almost like MAGA's entire worldview isn't consistent at all and is just hyper racist and partisan. Just a thought

And then the other half, too, of course.

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 40 points 4 days ago

And that's not even factoring in the $300 million Trump's just going to pocket. So lets just call it an even $900 million.

THIS isn't Waste! UNEMPLOYMENT is!

-Republicans on Unemployment!

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago

But don't you understand, they are actually down on their luck, and everyone else is a free loader!

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 36 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It's gone up in price again?

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

He always does that, like trickle truth in an idiotic attempt to soften the blow.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 15 points 4 days ago

Shut it and cough up your 60% of a 900 million dollar ballroom, citizen.

[–] Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk 10 points 4 days ago (3 children)

In 1776 there was a revolution because Americans were being asked to pay a few pennies in tax.

Fast forward 250 years and I'm wondering whether you guys would have been better off just staying part of Britain.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Correction: Wealthy people used a few pennies tax as an excuse along with a lot of propaganda, murders, and general terrorist acts to take control of the colonies.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

I wish we had

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Britain would probably have been better off now

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 26 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Well, at that price we the people have the right to burn it down

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

With him in it? Please?

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Invite Canada. We accelerate at burning down your capital.

[–] PwnTra1n@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Do it or shut up about it

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

While I fully disagree with the entire project, any White House construction should be fully funded by the public. It’s the People’s House and inviting private money is inviting corruption.

[–] o0evillusion0o@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Then the people should have a say what they piss away their money on.

[–] MIDItheKID@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

It would be great if your tax forms had a section at the end with check boxes/scantrom bubbles where you were able to select what your taxes were allowed to be spent on. I'm genuinely curious how that would pan out. Like I would put all of mine towards education and public works etc. None to war or surveillance tech or any of this shit.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Theoretically that’s what the point of representatives is, government officials selected by the people to decide laws and where/how money is spent. Obviously a lot is left to be desired in practice.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 9 points 4 days ago

And now he’s cancelling unemployment insurance

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Bullshit, we're gonna.

Fucking vanity project.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Where do they think money the government spends comes from?

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago

Taxes, taxes again (through tariffs), bonds (being sold at ever increasing yield rates), and printing probably. Inflation's gonna hurt so much more soon.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I wonder what atrocity they want to hide under this ballroom
