Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

This is straight up poetry. This cult not being able to manage a pool is peak.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Since when is ineptitude and incompetence a Conspiracy Theory?

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] filcuk@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 hours ago

As an internet onlooker, I thought that was a joke. I should know better by now.

[–] Archimedes@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Drain the swamp!

Reseal and paint the swamp!

Refill the swamp!

[–] MML@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 hours ago

I think calling it the swamp will have far greater impact than most people realize

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 hours ago

Now this actually is a distraction from the pedophilia and warcrimes. Rather than warcrimes being a distraction from the pedophilia, or vice versam

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 4 points 5 hours ago

Who could have guessed this would be the false flag he would lean into.

[–] corbindallas@fedinsfw.app 40 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Can we get back to the trumpstein files please.

Who fucking care about 15 million pool.

War, genocide, allied war crimes, cabal of billionaire pedophiles.

Piss in the pool.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

The pool is news because it is a very understandable and approachable subject. Most people believe they could handle a pool, and if it turns out trump can't even manage a pool (with all the power of the government at his disposal), then some of the MAGAs finally start thinking that trump may not be Presidential material.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 11 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

You think at this point that these people can think rationally?

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, these people are fighting an epic battle of good and evil and logic is aligned with the evil forces.

Talking to some of them, there seems to be a belief that even if everything looks like it's going horribly wrong, then that must be a sign too that the plan is coming together differently than they thought...

It's really fatalistic and tied up in the prosperity gospel/American mythos/calvanism. This can be a real shorthand for "everything is how it's supposed to be because God controls the minutia of our lives so how about a thank you." It's how they whip the rank and file voters.

The irony is that

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

No, the MAGAs are saying that it was antifa who dumped algae and chemicals in the pool to make Trump look bad

It's wild how he's turned his immediate surroundings in Washington into this living metaphor for his chaos and senility. Half the whitehouse is torn down, there's a circus attraction on the front lawn, the rose garden is a slab of concrete and the reflecting pool has become a swamp. Nauseatingly stupid, yet astonishingly predictable; predictions that when they were first made were called hysterical and deranged...

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago

Real estate is the one thing he's supposed to be good at, and he's even fucking that up.

[–] Archimedes@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 hours ago

Everything has fake gold trim now tho

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago

The alternative was a woman, apparently, and many sat it out as a result.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 13 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The dumb part is not that this orange idiot wanted to do all this.

The dumb part is that there is a large team, a huge organization, an entire community of people and professionals that enabled him to do all this and make it all possible. Everyone keeps pointing fingers at the deranged mango clown show, but people seldom think about the production crew that keep him in power and enable everything he wants to do, no matter how stupid it is.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Accelerationists want the chaos he brings. This was all part of their plan. They didn't know exactly what he would do, but they're on board with the crazy shit he's come up with.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 89 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

How about those Epstein files?

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 28 points 17 hours ago

Hooooowwww about those Epstein files?

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 58 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Algae, and now the paint is peeling. Could not be more emblematic. Didn't solve the problem, and inarguably made it worse.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 23 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yep, just like Iran, DOGE, Covid, the economy, healthcare, fraud, immigration, the Press Corps, the East Wing, the Kennedy Center, the entirety of the White House, etc.

Trump might literally have the Mierdas Touch.

[–] Cavemanfreak@programming.dev 7 points 10 hours ago

Mierdas Touch

Haha, I'm stealing that one!

[–] hypeerror@sh.itjust.works 27 points 17 hours ago (4 children)

And of course it has to be some diabolical covert operation orchestrated by "Antifa". It's unthinkable that the 80 year old going to the doctor every 6 weeks made a poor decision about some vanity project.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Lmaooo they are saying antifa did this??

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 15 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Absolutely hold him accountable for such things, but let's not forget the chain of yes-men that enabled it to become an actual disaster. There is room on the wall for more than one person.

[–] hypeerror@sh.itjust.works 10 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

There is only one rule in the Republican party, Trump is infallible.

My wife's aunt is a MAGA hat surgeon. She informally recommends Ivermectin to people to treat any number of illnesses. She doesn't prescribe but tells them where to get it online.

All because the leader cannot be wrong. Ivermectin must be a wonder drug even if it was useless for covid.

[–] bajabound@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

I'm amazed this hasn't been updated to reflect all the new 'uses'... And it refers to ivermectin as a wonder drug too!

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3043740/

Unfortunately that vanity project seems to be running the country into the ground.

Well at least it isn’t Harris.

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Sad thing is it’s not a poor decision - he gave a lot of taxpayer money to a friend and almost certainly got a nice little kickback himself. It’s a bad decision if you assume he gives a fuck about the pool. But not if you think he only gives a fuck about enriching himself

[–] NRay7882@lemmy.world 24 points 17 hours ago

The guy that was supposed to drain the swamp is building a new one.

[–] superglue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

It perfectly sums up Trump and this administration. They do not know how to build. Only destroy.

[–] Hawk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 hours ago

Destroy and profit from it

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Democrats online were quick to gloat.

Fuck you, billionaire sewer CNN

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 hours ago

Yeah, that article goes out of its way to call out and condemn entirely justified criticism.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 10 points 17 hours ago

Trump set out to accomplish the renovation that has eluded previous presidents in late March. In a post on Truth Social, he criticized the Biden administration for not taking on the project after a $34 million reconstruction effort under President Barack Obama proved to be unsuccessful.

I somehow feel like there was another person between that didn't do anything... 🤔

[–] Dr_Fetus_Jackson@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago

Oddly allegorical.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)
[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Might want to indent each word one more time if you meant it to be read vertically.

On topic, considering how many people are sick and/or dying under both Trump admins, a lot of Americans are actually being made green.
