Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Donald Trump on Saturday announced that federal authorities had made “multiple arrests” of people he said were vandalizing the Reflecting Pool as he struggled to explain why the $14-million-plus rehabilitation project he launched for the nation’s 250th anniversary seemingly backfired.

Trump said his predecessors had let the pool turn an algae-stained green and that he’d line it with “American flag blue” so it better reflected the Washington Monument. But after the new pool was unveiled, its blue tinge quickly became a familiar green. Workers treated it with chemicals to kill the algae, but then the painted blue lining on the bottom began to peel.

Imagine being arrested and charged with a felony because a geriatric narcissist is too far gone to admit his cronies did a shit job:

One man arrested was David Hearn, 67, of Bethesda, Maryland, who owned a company that made composite used to build watercraft. He said he stopped by the pool during his 64-mile bike ride Friday to see what was going on.

Hearn, a former Olympic canoe racer, told The Associated Press that he reached into the pool because he wanted to examine the peeling new coating. He said he briefly touched a chunk that was still attached to the side of the pool, then let go shortly after a park worker told him to.

But, Hearn said, he was then detained by National Guard troops and Park Police for five hours before being released Friday night.

I first skimmed this comment and read Bethesda and then misread watercraft for Warcraft. I was confused about what that had to do with the topic.

This was suppose to be the one thing he didn't fail at. His real-estate business is the one that he didn't bankrupt. I would say now, it is definitive that its only still going because of fraud. He can't even maintain a pool...

What a completely worthless human....

No moving forward without executions.

It's 2026. We no longer substantiate anything - we just make whatever claims we want and attack whoever dares to call us out on it. That's how I got my PhD.

Typical narcissist. Blame everyone else for your own shortcomings and mistakes

It wasn't a mistake, it was a kickback scheme. You steer a contract toward a trusted buddy, who does a shit job using shit materials, and they split the profit, especially the overruns, which are 100% profit.

Now you have to intimidate anyone who is considering investigating it.

This sort of scheme has been his Bread & Butter for his entire [criminal] "career."

Right, but Trump can't even do the absolute simplest form of corruption right. The intersection of his incompetence and narcissism means he can't even paint a pool without making it into a fiasco. It's seems stupid but it just shows how his entire situation is unraveling. Good con men understand the value of subtlety, and do not tolerate incompetence. Trump is so fucking stupid that he can't even grift properly as the most powerful man in the world.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 1 points 13 hours ago

You just described his shortcomings and mistakes.

[–] TheRiskiestBiscuit@reddthat.com 17 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

YOU FILLED IT WITH WATER AND THEN DUMPED PEROXIDE IN IT BEFORE IT HAD TIME TO CURE, YOU DOLT.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 7 points 17 hours ago

The absolute fucking irony of the claim that vandals "dumped corrosive chemicals into the pool" lmao the writers of this season are just phoning it in at this point.
