Privacy/encryption is a top priority

Large Gmail archive needs migrating over. If possible, I'd need to receive emails sent to my Gmail account (even if I can't answer them from that Google email adress).

I recently switched from Gmail to Proton but I'm already looking to switch again.

I just want a mailbox that's safe and nice. Much like Ente really. I tried Tuta because they are "friends" but I only saw negative feedback...

EDIT: I choose mailbox.org!

Mailbox.org yeah. And use a client you like. Skip proprietary Tuta.

Best mailbox is mailbox

What is the complaint about Proton? I feel like they went out of their way to make the transition from Google as seamless as possible.

Well as a Tuta user I can't say anything bad about it. It works for me. Additionally I have an account at Murena which also works very well.

I gave it a try.

Impossible to buy a coupon without registration. Registered, then the coupon amount was instead billed to the account I had only registered to be able to gift Tuta to a friend, despite the form saying I was buying a coupon. Support took 3 or 4 days to get back to me with a refund.

Turns out buying coupons is really only supported by third party sellers (linked nowhere on the site). Oh, and several instructions on the FAQ site were wrong, and notifications in the app did not work properly (on different devices).

This was 2 or 3 months ago. Overall, it seems more like a startup then what I'd consider a reliable service provider.

I am also very happy with Tuta

As others have said, tuta. Could also use PGP, but that doesn't hide the sender/receiver only the content

You can add your GPG keys to the thundermail client, and it just sits there locally on your computer encrypting/decrypting mail as needed. Another caveat/weakness with PGP/GPG is it relies on the sender to actually encrypt their email with your key. If they don't, of course the email will sit there in plain text.
