email space on providers is not a issue this days and imap is useful to have email across devices
well i used POP protocol like 3 years ago in a python script because it was actually easier than IMAP.

I wonder how many people use the same password for email, bank, and Pringles.com. As much as I hate two factor auth, I gotta remember how dismal the security of passwords is in the wild.
I've moved a lot of stuff from Google but it is funny to get an email then check what got leaked and it's like "schoolexambank.com" password "apples"is leaked
