Thatβs the reason. Dolphins also pick on fish just because it entertains them.
Maybe. There was a orca calf that fed on the exploded bits, while the adults left the small parts for it and only ate the bigger parts.
They made baby food.
The orca who came up with this was a genius.
Hank Green did a video about Sunfish and apparently they are mostly collagen which is not very nutritious so most things don't bother eating or hunting them so it's quite possible the orcas just do it for fun. I think the article speculates that breaking the Sunfish into small pieces might help young orcas to eat it more easily though so it's a bit unknown I think

Probably. Orcas can behave in quite a human manner sometimes.
Dolphins and Orcas don't have advanced tecnology, because they don't have hands nor fire, needed to develope it. But they have a way higher social itelligence as the humans.

I think sunfish are basically full of fart gases to help them float so itβd be like letting off a chemical weapon.
