Alterations to a comfort food is only ok if I'm the one making the alteration

[–] T156@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

"Loud noise" should be "Bad noise", surely?

You can have bad noises, even if they aren't loud, and a loud noise can itself be a bad noise.

If someone brushes their teeth in the next room over I have to move an additional room away. Or turn completely inside out. That's not loud at all, but bad bad bad bad bad.

Mosquito drive bys make me want to scream

When dinner plans get cancelled so while panicking you rush to make your favorite comfort food (which is most likely mac n cheese) and you undercook it. Then you can hear it crunching as everyone eats. And then you can't eat it again for 6 years.

Reading this comment physically hurt my body.

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 19 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Depends on the change. If the pale horse brings not anguish but cancellation, I do not bar its entry.

[–] Bougie_Birdie@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 12 hours ago

Interestingly, that applies to the template too

Conquest, War, and Famine are almost universally a bad thing. And while an unlooked for Death can come as a surprise or tragedy, it can also be a mercy. I don't think I want to live in a world without it

I used to get disappointed when my plans were cancelled, now it usually comes as a relief. My feelings have changed as I've grown older, much like my attitude towards death.

Was that the intent of the meme? Probably not - but it does provide a bit more depth

Alterations to a comfort food! That's exactly a problem I'm having at the moment.

Do any of you know if they've changed the recipe to Cadbury's Fingers in the last few months? I used to always have a box in, but they've been tasting weird the last few months - so much so that I didn't buy them in the last big shop.

[–] stevles@aussie.zone 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Cadbury have been cheapening their everything recently in the name of enshittification. Try Whittakers if they’re available in your country

Whittaker's coconut blocks are so good.

Had to throw out a wooden spatula yesterday. Spouse put it in the dishwasher and it became so rough, I can't touch it anymore >.<

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 3 points 11 hours ago

I'm not alone! Yeah I had this perfect wooden spoon… but someone put it in the dishwasher. It got all this "piling" lumpy and sad dense texture and became unusable. I never found a good replacement, only compromise spoons. My current spoon is too long, and the handle is too thin, and this will mildly bother me forever

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (3 children)

I'm surprised you could use a wooden spatula from the start... I've never liked them, because it feels unsanitary (yes, I know there's studies that show its naturally antimicrobial etc etc)

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago

Some wooden utensils are smooth but for some reason spatulas always feel furry. Like just the slightest bit of roughness to them like they weren't sanded all the way. And the way they kind of dry scrape against the food as it slides under gives me chills.

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

I love my wooden cooking spoons but I understand the brain problems with them!

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 2 points 16 hours ago

As long as the surface is smooth I prefer them over plastic.

Bad Textures is very mean to me and it makes me sad :<

I feel like Bright Lights would easily turn this quartet into a quintet

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 12 hours ago

Isn't bright lights just loud sounds to the eyes? (I'll add that loud smells give me headaches)

I feel seen.
