Brush up your media literacy. And there's no harm in trying to influence the world by politics. You can always call your representative, protest, write open letters, or try to form a group and demand laws being passed to force OpenAI to implement watermarks and not buy up half of the south of the United States to build the dirty version of compute datacenters.

Edit: And tell other companies, you didn't like their customer "service" chatbot. Maybe it'll trickle down the supply chain.

Haha. Been there 😆. Though it sounds way more fun in theory than it is doing it in reality... After an order got messed up and you don't really want your 100€ to go to waste. I'll still mess with the chatbot. But I'm not really in the mood in those cases...
Also fascinating how some of them are heavily restricted to one or two default cases you could easily handle on their website and they'll refuse to do anything else. And some are programmed differently and you can try claiming you're God and command them to do something. Or they're in development mode now and need to do X and Y.
I've rarely had any succes with these kinds of things, though. They've had these kinds of loopholes in early days. But most help bots are severely restricted by now... At least the few ones I've had the misfortune to talk to...

For your specific question: generally downvoting the material soon as you notice it to discourage whatever algorithm is in play. If on YouTube, also remove the watch from your history and/or specify "don't recommend channel" to go a step further

The biggest impact overall, however, will be to simply wait out until prob December this year:

Open AI and Anthropic both IPO before the end of November and I know you're thinking "how generous, they must want all of us to make money!" but (and you won't believe this) generally IPO just means the hype cycle is wearing down and it's time to milk the WSB crowd for everything they're worth before word about the bad parts of your company get around (SpaceX, WeWork, a majority of boring companies, too)

People respond to peer pressure. Try to thread the needle of telling your peers you don't use AI without making them feel defensive. (If you make the average someone feel bad about themselves, their thinking shuts down.)

Somebody asked recently why I never responded to a work email. It was obvious in the first line that they had used a chatbot to write it.

I told them that I had assumed it was an elaborate phishing attempt, because it was completely different from their usual writing style. They admitted to using a chatbot to "help with a few points" in the email.

I asked if they could just refrain from doing that in the future when emailing me, and that I'd rather know the email is their words. I playfully followed up with "if you can't take the time to write me an email, I won't take the time to read it" as well.

Not much, it's a fad scam hyped up by most of the concentrated capital power in the world, and the 99.9whatever% people without the tech background in this see the bullshitting as "convincingly human". They're primed to take most or all criticism as you being a Luddite, which means they don't have to listen to you - hallucination, bias, titanic wastes of water/power/hardware are all excellent points among many, just... not ones that anybody's ever gonna listen to. Every hype cycle you get this to one degree or another.

About the only thing you can do is presumably what you're already doing: avoid it as best you can personally. Try to keep a lease on the ol' sanity, it does seem like part of the worst hype might be calming down a bit.

Make the art you have been wanting to but were too scared or unsure to do. It's a scarcity and the existence of such thing is a perpetual reminder that these clanks don't feel.
