Democrats will likely win but then they'll remember who holds their purse and the billionaire Epstein-class will tighten their grip on us plebs even more.
Only if people don't vote in primaries...
That's the part I never understand, all these fucking accounts saying it's not worth fighting before the general, complete fucking silent during the last primary, and won't dona damn thing before the next one in two years

First show me some of the former. A congo line of Andrew Cuomos and Gavin Newsoms and Gretchen Whitmires and Bob Menendezes and Michael Flynns have not been kind to the liberal party over the last generation.
How many Democrats spent a decade sucking up to Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg for a bucket of money, back in the Obama Era? How many worked hand-in-glove with Amazon and Boeing and Palantir, in the name of economic growth? How many sat on the board of Walmart and Goldman Sachs and Ford Motor Company, while pretending a liberal populism?
At some point, you have to take the blinders off.

No. The last chance was 2024. They lost. That was the last fair election. There is no way that the fascists have come this far and gained total control only to give it up because of an election.
There's one way to defeat them and everyone knows what it is

Democrats are complicit. They have no motivation for the bulk of the citizenry to win.
establishment Dems, sure. but there are insurgent leftists winning national primaries all over the country.
My only concern is the money musk is pushing for the right. Money equals votes and always has, the dnc refuses to help anyone not establishment. I hope the money won't matter, but I think it will.

Nothing at all, but the progressives, the Democratic socialists, and the greens and everyone else who is fighting tooth and nail in the trenches against the far right extremists and chuds are giving it their all
Aside from excellent trending in rights, the economy, safety, education, and jobs, compared to the only alternative, well, nothing at all.

Why does anyone think there are still chances left?
edit: to clarify, I mean there are no more chances to "halt the erosion of US democracy"--it done eroded already. We're starting over now. The only thing we don't know yet is whether the coming elections will be free and fair. If they are, we can start rebuilding with a new movement to replace the old failed parties. If not, other steps will wind up being taken, one way or another.

I'm reading this comment section and shaking my head.
I mean, Democrats deserve a lot of crap, and I have and will continue to give them crap, but we're in primary season. I seriously don't get the nihilism and defeatism about a primary. If you want any option in the general, now's your time to vote for who you actually want the most.
How did NYC get Mamdani? Was it burning our vote or discouraging people from voting because the establishment Dems and billionaires wanted freaking Cuomo, and woe is us because the fix is in? No, it was taking a stand and believing that you can make it happen.
We'll have different debates in the general since I'm sure progressives won't win every primary. But right now is the time to send Santa your wish list and stop dooming.
We still seem to have a lot of "both sides are the same" mentality here, as if there aren't shades of evil out there.
People who still think that after the past 19 months are either complicit with the destruction, severely uninformed (or lacking real perspective), or are letting perfect be the enemy of good. We can critisize (and we should) the DNC while also realizinig their vote is the quicket way to stop the further slide into fascism. If we can find a progressive or DSA or whatnot, even better. But not all races will have those.
