Lol. Lmao even.
I mean, if you're gonna ask for my biggest wish for the Remasters.. it would be that there wouldnt be a remaster, but a Remake instead. Because both games deserve a ground up remake, on a more modern (NOT FUCKING UNREAL5) engine, with more love and time that their original iterations had during creation.
but, thats probably not gonna happen..
So I guess I guess I hope they at least somehow convert the base engines to 64bit so they can address more than 3.5gb of ram (and even that was only due to hex editing the .exe files), and all the ram limited design in game be redone.
Prime example being New Vegas in FONV, make the city completely open. It was only segmented and instanced behind load screens because of ram limitations on the consoles at the time.
I really can’t understand how their tech is so chronically held back. I understand they need their games to interop with modders and such. But can’t they keep that API relatively stable while modernizing the stack behind it? I clearly don’t get it.
Maybe it has to do with the way their games all take 11 years to make. It’s like interstellar war: you launch ships and you know they’ll need centuries to arrive and be outdated when they get there.
I wonder how much of it is "they'll buy it anyway, why spend money on something that isn't going to move the needle and also adds retraining costs and risk".
I'm constantly frustrated by their naff tech.
I would just like to see for once the artists original idea honored instead of whatever graphics injection 5090 slot we're going to get.
They will release 1:1 the same games just with updated graphics. Not a complaint but unfortunately these aren't remakes so we won't see any of the great cut content we'd like to see.
Open Freeside with less loading screens would be cool. Travelling from inside buildings or caves. Maybe some of the named NPCs getting unique voice actors this time around. Autumn's voice actor is funny but his line delivery is still flat in a bad way lol. Less invisible walls so you can try to climb some of the mountains if you are bored. 3 remaster being released without the ending where you HAVE to sacrifice yourself and Fawkes not blaming us for not wanting to die.
Hopefully they keep the original New Vegas/3 skill and perk system. HATE what we have in 4 and 76.
Perhaps, at the very least in the credits, mentions of Benny's and Mr. House's voice actors since they have passed away as they really made the original game special.
I just want new games

Nothing. New games.
Fuck remasters, rereleases, re-charging the customer for the same shit
Realistically I would be happy with fewer bugs and sprinting.
For New Vegas specifically, let me craft a motorcycle to ride in the wasteland
When I was playing FO4 I used a mod that allowed me to build stationary motorcycles at settlements in hardcore that I could use for fast travel. You'd have to scavenge/craft fuel to use it too
Not owned by Microsoft.
if its anything like the oblivion remaster - while great, i dont believe it changed any underlying systems
It changed a good bit actually. You always gain 4 points in a stat (other than Luck) when you choose to level it, instead of it depending on how many related skills you raised since your last level. Fatigue is no longer part of the melee damage calculation, which means you can spam attacks without reducing your damage, but magic effects that raise your maximum Fatigue no longer give a damage bonus. Agility no longer affects your chance to be flinched when hit. The way difficulty settings are implemented changed from a slider to four set difficulties, and a bunch of enemies that were really tanky or had damage that was stronger than expected for their tier got nerfed. Also the new combat animations affect attack timing and weapon reach. There's definitely some other stuff I'm forgetting, too.
The problem is that it's bad enough that I had a crash several times in not that many hours and they stopped updates completely after a few patches with tons of known bugs left.
I'm really annoyed that they never fixed the bug where detail columns (and thus their related sorting options) disappear from the inventory sometimes and you can only get them back by relaunching the game. Also the one where adding items to containers makes them disappear in the menu and the only way to get them back is to press the "take all" button.
Yeah I know, this is just to see what other people would want changed. Doesn’t matter if it would never happen, just nice to see what others would want
I want the varmint rifle to be more viable for longer.
Brown and green, brown and orange.
I want both to flop so Zenimax/Microsoft splits off the IP from the parent company to a studio that cares about making geniune art again.
Microslop will just shutter the studio if this happens, you kno.
They won't flop. Fallout fans are starved and will eat anything singleplayer at this point.
Fixing bugs. But that’s asking too much.
I bought Skyrim so many different times and it’s amazing how the same bugs persist across so many versions. Literally did nothing when rereleasing on a new system. Like the Nintendo Switch port carried over bugs I had first experienced nearly a decade earlier when I played on Xbox 360 as my first time playing the game.
It’s unacceptable. These companies act like because we live in an age where patches can be released over the internet, that excuses their behavior.
Back when Morrowind was released, they didn’t have that luxury and had to release the game in as perfect of condition as they could or risk a bunch of angry gamers. Now they don’t care. And partly because we enable them by buying it in that state and not pushing back enough.
For Fallout 3 I’d love to see the faction reputation system from New Vegas be ported over. Would be fun to see the quests I’ve done pay off with better reputation, or see how the evil things I’ve done make the community hate me.
For New Vegas of Nipton got a reason to return to it after the initial pass through would be a nice touch. Cause outside of the journey to the strip at the start of the game, or for the Brotherhood quest line you never really head back. So some other reason to return to Nipton would be nice, unrealistic for sure but nice nonetheless.
Maybe have some raider clan set up camp in the ruins with new loot/enemies? The Vipers really need the win tbh
Based on the caveat in your post about not needing to be realistic
Rebuild them on entirely different tech. They look awful.
If we could get Bethesda to stop treating the setting as a box ticking exercise that'd be good too. Oh and change when Fallout 3 is set to a point in time that makes sense.
Oh and in New Vegas give me the option to not alienate the Brotherhood of Steel for Mr. House. I spent a load of effort getting them on side, I'm not telling them to piss off.
Edit: Agrivar@lemmy.world care to explain why my opinion is deserving of your down vote? Or just to wind me up? Seems a bit of an arsehole move to me.
