Get the fuck out then

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

Well then, vote Hakeem out of politics he is definitely not serving for the people.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 23 points 1 day ago

The first job of the new Dem Congress after the Midterm, is to immediately replace the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries. If they don't work for the other side, they might as well be. Get rid of them.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 30 points 1 day ago

Unrelated, isn't this so cute?

You... you serious?

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This US supreme court needs to be at least... THREE times bigger... I have a vision...

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

We all know this, but I am surprised that he actually admits it publicly.

But... perhaps there's no point in manipulating the public. It's not as if there's a viable alternative.

Meanwhile, he has the very best healthcare on Earth, all thanks to US taxpayers.

This is just one more reason why our major parties continue to lose voters every year. Rs are now 30%, Ds are now 30%, and Independents are up to 40% (many polls, pick your favorite).

Greens led by a cunt that dines at Putin's table don't count.

[–] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Man he sucks. He makes voting for the dems hard.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 58 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Find someone who looks at you like Hakeem looks at a war criminal.

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Time to clean up the Dem party. Vote blue no matter who goes both ways!

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

I'm not sure it matters who goes both ways, but I will agree.

One of his few good points, and it may be accidental is that it’s hard to sell a tax increase.

My health insurance premium is way higher than my Medicare tax, so I can recognize that tripling the Medicare tax in my income bracket in order to support Medicare for all will actually save me money.

But there are a lot of people who would stop at tripling the Medicare tax is bad. It would be a hard sell to get past that.

The only real problem with tripling the Medicare tax is that it’s a fixed percentage and is capped, but really ought to be progressive with no cap

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 6 points 14 hours ago

It's ONE of the MOST Difficult things to Tell people their Monthly costs will ~~LOWER!~~ ~~Be LESS!~~ ~~SAVE Money!~~ I cant' even do it!

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

It's one of those things that boggles me. People will happily hundreds of dollars a month for a 'service' they barely use and is notorious for finding ways to not honor providing the service for any number of reasons.

But the second you rephrase it as a tax, even a tax that would cost them less and provide them better services, they just don't want any part of it and cling to the broken model like any kind of tax is an impediment of their rights.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 3 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Selling a good thing like Medicare for all is a skills issue at this point. And if we keep hiring Democrats who lack that level of communication skills, then don't blame the voters for failing to know what is at stake.

[–] droans@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

This is why the idea of "Medicare for those who want it" seems appealing to me. Until you reach a certain threshold (say, 70%), make both the tax and benefits optional.

It's not optimal by any stretch but it's easier to sell it as an optional tax and benefit.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why wasn't he primaried, New York?

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

DSA member Chi Osse wanted to challenge Jeffries, but the DSA narrowly dropped him because Zohran Mamdani told DSA not to primary Jeffries.

So you can thank Zohran Mamadani for this.

[–] GolfFoxtrotLima@ani.social 14 points 1 day ago

[–] falynns@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 85 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (15 children)

You dumb Cunt

And to think, I helped get this guy elected to the Senate for his first term. I campaigned for this asshole. I canvassed. I had a lanyard. I had a clipboard. I knocked on doors. I convinced others to vote for him.

I met him and shook his hand. and this motherfucker lied right to my goddamn face.

I feel fucking dirty, and I feel disgusting for spreading that filth to others

Edit: the Hakeem Jeffries wasn’t in front of the Javiz Center at the BLM protest… But I was and I can bring that fight to the next election… And the next. Didn’t bet on that did you, Hakeem? Well, fuck you. And fuck that horse of entitlement you rode in on.

You know what else survived the NYPD crackdown at the Javits center? This watch (cracks courtesy of the NYPD):

And this watch says your time has run out.

Hakeem Jeffries can fuck off. It's been clear since day 1 of trump 2.0 that he's a fucking hack, and here we are.

[–] TriplePlaid@wetshav.ing 35 points 2 days ago (10 children)

Instead, Jeffries argued Democrats should focus on making healthcare more affordable by reversing Republican-enacted Medicaid cuts and extending Affordable Care Act tax credits that he said have helped millions of Americans manage insurance costs.

So basically he's saying that now that Republicans hamstringed our healthcare, we should change our goals and just go back to how things were??? I feel like this is the most obvious it has ever been that establishment dems are NOT on our (the people's) side.

Tell me you only care about your corporate masters without saying you only care about your corporate masters.

[–] GreenBeard@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

Anyone else read his statement in the voice of Uncle Ruckus?

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That Jeffries guy becomes more and more suspicious to me every time I see a new article. It may be the billionaire-owned media painting this picture or the man may be a fraud. I'm watching you Jeffries. I'm watching you billionaire-owned media.

Seeing as he isn’t up for reelection until ‘28, if we are able to secure House in mid-terms — he shouldn’t even be Speaker. We need someone backing these agendas and not stalling our needs.

[–] bluecario@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Uh... he is up for re-election this year. House members serve 2 year terms.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh. Somewhere in the replies it is noted differently. Thanks.

[–] bluecario@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

Np. But yeah, I've been writing my rep multiple times asking him not to support Jeffries for speaker. Dude is the worst.

[–] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Jeffries is clearly a MAGA plant. He can just go cross the aisle and sit with his buddies. He’s taking up a Dem seat. Oh I’m sure the GOP stans will want to re-elect him. You’ve got no friends, buddy.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Ha, he's not a MAGA plant. He's like every other leadership Democrat. This is a Democrat. Believe what's always been right in front of your face.

Every corner of rot needs to be dealt with in this country, including controlled opposition.

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

Yeah man i fucking hate making sure americans can afford to live their goddamn lives and maybe spend some of that time with their families?

No? Just work and missiles for war criminals? Fuck off.

I hope you guys on the left understand the assignment is to retake the party from the dumb fucks in my older generation (Gen X specifically, but also the Boomers who haven't croaked yet.) We think we know but we don't. We/they are wrong. The center can win you a battle but it will never ever win the fucking war. Go win the war.
