7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Yeah, I think the future is bright. We need to cut out Microsoft, Google and Oracle from public service use. Hold Amazon accountable for its labour violations. Remove our data from US owned or located datacenters. Ban Facebook for its criminal activities. Force Netflix and other streamers to pay into our culture production funds and create/promote more Canadian/French Language content. We need to become food independent from the US. No way we should die from eating their bullshit.
We've allowed our sovereignty to be eroded by these companies who do whatever the fuck they want with no consequences.
And quite frankly, I think the Auto Industry in Ontario can die and then be replaced with military industries: small arms, drones and missiles. Enough fucking around.
Also repel transposition of the DMCA in Canada's law. Time to hack and repair whatever US products we already have by Canadian companies.

What? Canada made out like a bandit with NAFTA, industry in the US closed overnight and located across the border. They got labor on the CDN $ and didn't have to pay US healthcare.
If we want to get serious about decoupling with the US, we need to stop subsidizing the auto sector like Australia did.
Financially Canada came out ahead in exchange for IP protections no? In any case we got lazy and complacent in developing a robust world-wide trading scheme and it's biting us in the ass now.

This is not retaliation. It's reciprocity. Retaliation would be to tarrif or cut off energy, potash etc.
They should honestly cut US off of their power grid.

The statement by the Canadian Prime Minister said they were making good progress until, at the last moment, the U.S. introduced some conditions that were "unfair, uneconomical and called into question the reliability of any deal."
You can't make deals with narcissists, they are meaningless. He signed the trade agreement he's now bitching about, toured it as the bestest everest at the time. Now it's garbage. The only thing he's interested in is bullying, what he mistakes for shows of strength and domination. That's why he will sabotage his own negotiations like he did here and like he's been doing in Iran. There is zero reason to engage with him at all. The world is better off making new trade deals without the US and let us sink. Weather the depression it will cause because that's coming regardless.

And Canada showed him that’s an acceptable negotiating strategy when they caved to his last-minute demands to change the agreement on the Gordon Howe bridge.
We’ll see how long Carney sticks to his guns this time, but I’m not optimistic.

Carney and envoy have done the best they could but the Orange Turd is dishonest, dishonorable, and a petulant bully child, there is no negotiating with him.
Another fuck the people tariff? Courts will strike it down in a few months and the gov will refund the companies.... but not the people the who the company past ln the cost to and now locked in the higher price.
So by that logic, shouldn’t Canada not retaliate and screw over its own citizens?
Keep US products out of stores here. That would have a much more sizable impact in my opinion, rather than tariffs on Canadians.
That would work, except now Loblaws is obfuscating the origin of products they sell, and they give big $ to Carney's Liberals.
They split their donations 50/50 between the liberals and the CPC…
