This is the evil brilliance of Conservative marketing. The American working classes have been brainwashed to think what's good for Jeffy and Zucky and Donnie is what's good for them.
Work Reform
A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.
Our Philosophies:
- All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
- Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
- Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
- We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.
Our Goals
- Higher wages for underpaid workers.
- Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
- Better and fewer working hours.
- Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
- Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.
Abolition hurt the cotton and sugar industries, and yes, the slaving industry. There's even a song about it.
Had the insurance industry but one throat I would slit it.
And then deny them the medical care!
Sorry being stabbed is a pre-existing condition.
Ain't this a free market? Whatever happened to that idea
I literally had a bunch of my comments removed for saying this same thing
Your problem isn't capitalism per-say, it's a government that supports corporations over you
Doesn't matter what system you technically have, if the government cares more about businesses than they do you, you're fucked
checks notes
We are fucked.
This is all possible without asking Trump.
All the people who want this: Pick one city to move to. Then build the housing with solar cells, public transport and a hospital.
If banks don't finance this, have a lottery. One half has to stay and make money, the other half moves and builds the city. Once the city is profitable, the other half moves there, too.
Wow I never realized it was so easy, thanks
Where do you see the problems? I think the biggest obstacle is finding the people. Once that's solved everything else will be solved by the people who want to live in such a city.
Bill Maher did "let's flip a district" like a decade and a half ago. Lots of words accurately describe you, but "original" isn't one of them.
People settled entire continents. I am not claiming this as my idea. I am more puzzled that people don't do it. Why was "let’s flip a district” not successful?
Because it was a "movement" of all-talk dipshits like you.
Which means I don't have to pity anybody who is stuck in their current life.
or make new banks and finance it yourself through the new institutions
It's not even simply hurting the auto industry. People are weirdly attached to their mobile living rooms.

Mobile death machines.
And all those industries are filled with people who need those things, just like everybody else. They want them, too
Hurt them? Hurt them? I want to DESTROY THEM!
Whoa, easy tough guy.
What? No. We should be encouraging him.
What about all the unions who fought for healthcare?
-My dad, justifying voting for Hillary and later Biden in the primaries.
Every election it was "yes, the left have policy that would directly benefit us, but the moderates won't vote for that so I shouldn't either."
Well except when he voted Bush thinking he would get lower taxes.
“Moderates” is always such a silly term to me. They’re not actually moderate; their beliefs are corporate extremism.
Its not even a real thing. There is no contingent of voters who will vote for "means-tested subsidies to buy health insurance from 1 of 50 marketplaces based on what your family's expected healthcare needs are and employer contribution", but won't vote for free healthcare. There is no "help Israel do only a little genocide" vote.
But every time, cable news would dupe the poor man into voting for what some imaginary moderate wanted instead of policy that materially benefits everyone.
Insurance should have never been an "industry"
So literally no downsides is what you are saying?
Emancipation was a huge hit to the slave trade industry
Yes, and?
That should mean that they can switch to doing something productive instead. It's not even bad capitalist politics.
forget to add all these culminate into, hurts political parties as a wedge issue/single issue.
- blank * industry is a threat to life on this planet.
I want nothing more than to hurt the industy and take jobs from those who perpetuate it.
Introduce UBI at the same time.
We’re basically headed toward a dystopic authoritarian oligarchy with huge disparity. It’s gonna look like all those fictional dystopias portrayed in Elysium or Neuromancer but without all the cool tech. Yeah, we should have these social programs for people…but unless we crush the oligarchy they’ll create continuous pressure to make sure these social programs are as shitty as possible and be functionally the caricature of socialism the right wing uses for its propaganda. We’ll be second or third class citizens living in favelas or similar social housing. They won’t stop bleeding the people for more. But the thing is, if we get rid of the oligarchy we’ll not need such a huge social safety net*.
*we should have a good one anyway, but it shouldn’t be a response to the disparity created by billionaires, we should just have one by default.
