amy doctors wanna chime in on this?

[–] glasratz@feddit.org 1 points 10 minutes ago

It may cause strokes, but current chiropractic-funded studies say otherwise.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Those people started doing it becaus a ghost told a guy that the magical energy flows through the spine and every illness happens because the spine is misaligned and needs to be straighten. You don't need a doctor to tell you the merit of all that

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

(This person is not making this up. This is really, actually the foundation of chiropracty. Don’t go to or support chiropractors. They are not doctors.)

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 14 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Not a doctor but there’s no way that’s good.

[–] kolmaskommentoija@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Also not a doctor, but I remember reading, that those practices have paralyzed people - and I can believe that. Definitely not good.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 hours ago

The neck stuff they do increases risk of stroke. The whole chiropractic practice isn't backed by medical research.

What do army doctors have to do with it

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

He said Amy but she's out at the shops right now

[–] tyranny@crazypeople.online 4 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Tyranny is a woman?! Makes sense 😝

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 1 points 15 minutes ago

To be fair there's nothing in their profile to suggest it and this is the Internet where gender is about as important as an ice cube in Antarctica

Plot twist: this was never a torture device, it’s just a story of the inventor going “go on, admit it, it feels good, don’t it?” that got blown way out of proportion

[–] Waterpumpee@lemmus.org 16 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

Another torture was to force feed the guy with poop n piss until tummy is bloated. then jump on the stomach.

[–] gandalf_der_13te@feddit.org 8 points 6 hours ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwedentrunk

was sometimes used during the thirty years' war (1618 - 1648), so early modern age (again, sigh), not medieval age.

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

Stop by the torture museum in Amsterdam if you really want to see what a clusterfuck of a species we are

[–] modus@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Was it worse going in or coming out? Did they make them eat it again? Was there more than one recipient per fecal vessel?

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

This guy tortures.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

The important questions

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Wouldn’t you just vomit it up immediately?

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Yes. Most “medieval torture history” stuff is just creative writing exercises that get handed down for generations.
