Mine are very boring. I used to be a fan of sparkling, particularly ✨sarcastically✨, until AI ruined that emoji for everyone. πŸ˜’

used to mean: I love you, coming home, by bike, by train, I like this, I hear you, incomplete to-do, completed to-do, removed to-do, WTF is wrong with them

So... what's my personality? "Very married"?

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

😘πŸ₯°πŸ¦–πŸ§‘

The first two are the I love you, the dino is because she's a dinobabe, the heart is my favorite color and means I like this

I think I also am very married.

  • You're caring and supportive of your partner.
  • You put the effort to even let them know when/how you're getting home using different types of emoji.
  • You also emotionally support them with the love reminders and venting/commiseration emojis.
  • Having a three emoji system dedicated to task tracking and updates probably means you're detail oriented or responsible.

Not just married, but a specific type of married.

No, people are far more complex then pictograms can show. Pictograms outside of conversational context can not carry intent which is pretty important with working out a personality.

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 0 points 5 hours ago

True that. But I feel like you can at least glean something from what pictograms they choose to express themselves with. Like how you can with the posters they choose to hang in their room.

My most-used chat app is Discord, and that one has custom emojis.
These are my most frequently used "emojis" there:

I think the main problem is that they get stripped from their context? So it becomes unclear whether an emoji is used in earnest or whether it is used sarcastically or ironically.

The custom emojis do add a bit of a personal touch though

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 3 points 6 hours ago

I understand you perfectly now πŸ«ͺ

I very rarely use emojis. Ironically I mostly use them on desktop. KDE Plasma has a pretty nice emoji picker app.

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Hey what's that app called? I'm running KDE and I really want to turn all my commands into emojis
