It's actually a really simple solution, on a better toaster you can push the lever up and pop your food out to easily grab it
Every manual toaster I’ve had allows you to pull it up manually
But somehow my current toaster needed to be electronic with buttons and an LED readout, and a motor instead of a spring. There’s no manual release, just stick a knife in and try not to electrocute yourself.
However it also has lasted far longer than any other toaster I’ve had, so …..
We have, most toasters let you lift the lever higher to get it out.
Mine only does it by like 10%. It must be a bad make

Do those really work? I don’t have a need or counter space for the “oven”, and the toaster needs to toast bread. Are those as fast and do they toast as well as the more specialized appliance?
The last thing I need is to take up more counter space. To the contrary, I am considering getting rid of my air fryer. The air fryer has worked really well, so well that I got an oven with that functionality. It would be tough to convince me to take up more counter space
Edit: then again, the internet claims an air fryer is effective at toast
My toaster over has a "toast" button that makes it really convenient to use, but it really pays off when cooking other meals. It's mostly replaced my old toaster and my big oven. If I only wanted toast I would settle for a good toaster to save space.
You have to master the art of the toss. Push the lever hard and then catch it while its in the air.
My favourite is when a toaster with the lift function raises to a high point that's lower than the high point on one without the lift.
Or that time I went through every display toaster in the store to get the one that lifted the highest, then when I bought one and took it home the one in the box only lifted to a high point an inch lower than the display model.
Push it down then up real fast and then catch the toast as it flies out.

Most toasters you can lift the pushy-downy-handle up a bit more than it rests at to lift the toast out.
My big problem is that (in the UK at least, don't know about other nations) the standard sized bread doesn't fit fully in a toaster, so the top ~3cm is still bread.
Haha this is hilarious. I occasionally try to toast differently shaped bread, but sliced bread is very consistently shaped so never a problem.
Do other countries do bread differently ? Is this just another example of American cultural imperialism? “No baguettes for you!”
We have... I'm more impressed that you found a toaster that doesn't. I don't think I've had a toaster in the last ten years that didn't give a little bit of leeway on the lever to let you pull up a little bit more to be able to grab it.
When my toast gets stuck like that, I just pour my beans directly into the toaster and eat it all like cereal
That bandle that you push down? Push it UP instead. This is a solved problem.
Rapidly push the lever up to eject your toast and grab it midair. Works 95% of the time

I don't know about your toaster, but mine is built so you can lift the handle slightly from the standard position, which lifts the bread mechanism and allows you to access the bread without poking into the toaster.
The solution is almost as old as the device itself: thin wooden tongs.
I think your toaster might be broken.... The pieces are supposed to rise half way up after it's done toasting
The problem is that you're trying to use a fork or your finger. Bread goes into the toaster. You're obviously supposed to fish it out with a bread knife.

Use a toaster oven
Just wanna say I own a set of medium silicone-tip Tongs which are useful in general but they would be my go-to in this situation.
Also I recently saw toaster tongs somewhere for like $5 ... They looked like wooden chopsticks but attached at one end
But also I haven't owned a toaster in 20y once I discovered the Toaster Oven, which fits more toast, has more granular control, and can cook other things. My current one is like 10yo I got it for $20.
I forgot this was ever a problem actually until I saw those wooden tongs and within a week I see your post.
