Assuming time, money, living situation, and the law wasn't a factor. I'd love a skunk. I'd name her Oreo and i'd love her and she'd be my best friend.

Dragon. And anyone who says otherwise isn’t being completely honest with themselves. Everyone wants a dragon.

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 8 points 3 weeks ago

Can I have a dog-sized dragon? Smaug would not fit in our living room and our budget can't manage dozens of sheeps every week.

Have you not seen Rick & Morty?

I'd have my cat. If the devil came acallin' I'd sell my soul for me and the lil guy to be immortal. I could spend eternity in his company and it wouldn't be enough.

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 39 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I, also, choose this guy's cat.

Me too. We're having to put our little guy to sleep tonight, he's too ill. They're pretty sure it's cancer, but he's not stable enough for diagnosis let alone treatment. The poor guy's had basically a soda can's worth of fluid drained from his chest cavity twice in the last 2 months.

[–] DrSoap@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm so sorry. I hope you're okay. I had a cat die suddenly a month ago and its been rough. Please take care of yourself.

I have answered this the same way every time I've been asked:

A great big fuck-off raven.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

No, just at the large end of the real-world raven size range is fine.

I'm not, like, going to Mordor.

  • Fox (they are so cute)
  • Cheetah (pretty and pretty chill)
  • Snow Leopard (beautyful fluffy cats)

Can I have a pet human or is that too problematic?

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 15 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Is this some consensual sex thing? If so, will you care for them and love them?

[–] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

On the advice of my legal counsel, I am choosing to invoke my fifth amendment rights.

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 25 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

In that case, yes it's problematic.

My cat. I left home for a bit, I come back to see she's gone. Nobody told me or anything. I know she's fine wherever she is, but I still miss her.

My dog Denver, who died a couple years ago. She was so awesome, my little buddy. Lived 18 great years, miss her every day.

Some kind of a wild cat like Ocelot would be cool assuming they could behave themselves but since they can't, a normal house cat is just fine too.

[–] determinist@kbin.earth 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My dogs. Because I loved them, and still do.

A binturong. They have a fluffy prehensile tail as long as their body and they smell like popcorn!

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Capybara. Self-explanatory. It'd chill with me and my dogs.

[–] scops@reddthat.com 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I got to meet a couple capybaras on a cruise excursion. At one point someone in the crowd got rowdy and upset the male, who had to huddle in a corner and stare at a wall to calm down.

It was sad that we made him uncomfortable, but also pretty cute to watch him sulk.

tbh, I'd rather be the pet.

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Red panda. I'm disappointed that I was the first comment for one

[–] ModernRisk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

My previous cat from childhood until my early twenties and a Savannah cat.

EDIT: Corrections of the sentence.

A common magpie, specially if it can come and go as it pleases and I don't have to do much.

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 5 points 3 weeks ago

Right before I was born, my mom had a pet skunk named Petunia. She loved her and talked about her all the time growing up.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I want an emu. Specifically, I want to hand-rear one from the egg.

I've done this with chickens and ducks and loved it. Emus are basically just giant chickens anyway.

You guys get to choose your pets? All of mine just invite themselves in the house and then decide they live there now. I'm not complaining about the situation, but I don't exactly remember having much choice in the matter.
