A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I didn't say they should be, I said they probably are.
Like, we know authoritarians are inherently a detriment to society. I don't think there is a single example in history where people benefited from authoritarian rule equitably to the ruler. Clearly cognitive dissonance is required to support authoritarians, and cognitive dissonance is a defense mechanism commonly found in anxious disorders. Projection is another one.
Given the focus authoritarians have of defining masculinity on things that have little benefit to any gender, they are projecting insecurity about their own masculinity, and performing all sorts of mental gymnastics to avoid the remaining anxiety.
Mix in a little of phallic humor that has at least existed since ancient times, and one can come up with the idea that they simply are insecure of their penis size.
No no, I agree, people who disagree with you politically are just doing it because they have small penises; that's a very mature and insightful political theory

No one self identifies as authoritarian, it's a pejorative that all sorts of political persuasions level at each other.

The idea that people you don't like are biologically inferior is a pretty old idea. I don't know why it has such staying power. It's never been redeemed or justified; nothing good has ever come of it. Maybe it stays popular because it flatters the ego of those who believe it.

Having a small penis doesn't make someone biologically inferior. It also doesn't make them an authoritarian.
Overcompensating for your small penis by being an ass with demands on other men to conform to your manliness makes you have a problem with your thinking. As in, authoritarians have a problem with themselves that they can't change and project it onto other people.
That doesn't make them inferior. It means they need a LOT of work.

I may be wrong and missing the joke but it kinda sounds like you believe this to be true.
Believe it? No. I mean, its really just phallic humor. Being authoritarian comes from a place of anxiety though, that I believe. Obviously correlation doesn't equal causation, but every authoritarian ruler in history has been anxious about being removed from power.
Which... clearly makes sense, because they aren't immortal and doubling down on your oppression only works so many times.
An additional note: of all the mental/intellectual health issues out there, I'm surprised that supporting authoritarian regimes and policies isn't a symptom.

I grew up with sisters, so I feel I've gotten to know women better from a non-intimate means more so than my friends who only had brothers or only childs. It's given me an advantage in confidence and being outgoing without being arrogant (hopefully not, anyway).
I still don't know where I picked those mannerisms up. I was in theatre, arts, music a lot as a kid?
But Ill back you up on that observation - women always comment that they feel safe around me. Which... is a wild thing to hear.

In my head it ended up being that the males who drive lifted trucks are jokes, and they come from skyscrapers (as in jump off from) because they've never touched a cervix.
