PCP Overdose
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) states that the effects of PCP are dependent on the dose taken:
Lower doses of PCP are the typical doses on the street, and they are usually between 1 mg and 6 mg. At these doses, the effects are similar to alcohol intoxication.
Moderate doses of PCP, between 6 mg and 10 mg, produce significant psychosis, hyperactivity, and issues with irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, muscle rigidity, and elevated temperature rates.
Very large doses exacerbate the above effects, and they are also likely to produce comatose states, catatonia, and seizures. Extremely large doses, above 200 mg, can be fatal.
(Yes, I chose the word "trends" to be a bit ironic.)
I was drugged once with PCP. Like. I had a drug test so that's how I know.
I was 21. My first Halloween of legal drinking age.
Went to a bar with older cool friends. I was going to a party after. So I was only at the bar for like 1 or 2 hours. I had 1 drink. A Smirnoff ice. Equivalent to a beer.
I left it unattended while dancing with the friends. Finished it off before leaving.
Rest of the night is a bit of a blur. Lost my shoes. Made an absolute ass out of myself apparently from stories I heard. My costume covered in grass stains where I repeatedly fell in the yard.
And I appeared to be a sloppy messy drunk. Another girl at the party offered to take me home. I do remember that part. She helped me get to the door to my apartment. I remember literally crawling up the 2 flights of stairs.
I got in the door. I managed to shut it. Lock it. And slept right there on the floor.
Woke up the next morning and started wondering how I got that fucked up from one drink.
I didn't think I had been assaulted. I would know. But I was concerned I had been drugged.
I called a hotline. They advised I could buy a drug test at walgreens but because I had not been assaulted they couldn't offer me any service. That's fair. I guess. They told me to do the test ASAP as many drugs leave the system fast.
I went to walgreens. Got a drug test.
PCP and opiates.
So I don't take opiates either. I don't tolerate them.
I think I may have taken them at the party though because I heard later there was some there. But I have no recollection of taking any.
Damn lucky I got home safe.
I told the older friends I had gone with to the bar, what happened. One of them told me she was pretty sure she had been drugged at the bar in the past. About a year previous . Very similar experience. But she was never sure. Her gf at the time had taken her home. But she said you never know at bars. Never leave your drink. Or just dump it if you do.
PCP mimicks being stupid drunk. So I think it can often be used as a date rape drug and the person will just think they drank too much and got them self in a bad situation.
I thought that's what happened to me until I stopped and thought about it. I literally had 1 drink.
Maybe if you take it voluntarily, just have someone check in on you and be prepared.
Probably don't take with alcohol.
I will add that when someone who had been at the party recounted some of my sloppy embarrassing behavior and laughed about it, I was pretty angry.
I've never been a sloppy drunk. I'm a mean drunk. I just get super cynical when I've drank too much.
I've never been the kind to get "flirty". I'm asexual. So a loss of social inhibition isn't going to make me sexual. But the opposite.
Apparently I was sitting on guys laps. Wiggling around. Made out with some girl. Just. Not normal for me.
People who have partied with me before know me. They should have questioned why I was acting so unusual. I mean , eventually someone did. And took me home.
But I was so disappointed and unhappy that these supposed friends let me go on like that and no one stepped in to say "that's not how Dani is, maybe she needs some water and a ride home".
Maybe my standards and expectations were too high. But I never partied with those people again.
The chick who took me home was from a different friend group. Didn't even know me but was the only person who helped.

I was thinking about PCP the other day because it's the one drug I know basically nothing about aside from jokes that it gives you superhuman strength.

It's a disasociative, not entirely unlike them with some ketamine type analgesic properties thrown in for fun.
Not really superhuman strength, just no pain and no brain behind the wheel.
Sounds fun.
