Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person or their instance. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on. Keep on-topic

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Yay! Literally yay! Imprison them all. Every single one.

And don't forget to disband ICE. Preferably roll back all valid functions of DHS to other government departments and close down that too. It was never necessary or even beneficial.

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 2 points 44 minutes ago

How about we show them how due process works.
List all their crimes, then (if they live long enough to get to the end of the list) they can be imprisoned.

[–] opus86@lemmy.today 5 points 1 hour ago

Trump has ran up the Deficit by $25 Trillion dollars in the six years he's been in office on this wasteful shit. He should pay it back.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 16 points 1 hour ago

there need to be hangings. lots and lots of hangings.

[–] neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (3 children)

Cut off the escape routes, then start cleaning up:

  • lock out pension / retirement benefits for individuals under investigation
  • decimate the DHS/ICE budget
  • daylight everything

The litmus test: if they're not running scared, the good guys aren't working hard enough.

Getting Vought should be job #1.

That shitheel Vought said that civil servants should feel traumatized by Project 2025.

We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can't do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so. We want to put them in trauma.

Not only does HE need to feel traumatized, but assholes within organizations like ICE need to feel traumatized.

Treating civil servants like that little creep did should be something that we need to come down like a ton of bricks on.

I'll have "overlap between politics and The Boys" for 300, Alex

he needs to feel nothing ever again.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

Yeah I've been imagining for the past few years that if I were ever elected president, I'd declassify literally everything I possibly could. Shine the light on every bullshit fascist act of war we've ever committed, bring out the truth on every conspiracy, tell everyone in the world what the government and corporations have been doing behind the Peoples' backs.

if one is still alive, if they're not killing themselves as the only escape, you're not going hard enough.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 21 points 3 hours ago

Maybe they'll get some clarity on that $495 million purchase of the prison in Minnesota from CoreCivic.

We need to make an international spectacle of prosecuting these crimes so the world can see that USA can, in fact, take out the trash. For our own safety and credibility.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 40 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sure jeffires and schumer have other plans. The next battle is voting them out of speakerships.

[–] lazymoose@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Pretty sure it's a budget standoff. Try to act a victim get all the news spots talking about it. All the while the democrats we just elected are like, "let us hold people accountable." And their deal will magically not let them have a budget to do that.

[–] CeeBee_Eh@lemmy.world 14 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

For our own safety and credibility.

Do it for your own safety. The credibility bit is now a generational rebuild process. The world doesn't trust you guys anymore. The process to decouple from the US is already in motion and its not going to stop. The damage is done.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 10 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

Lol, yesterday it was all, "You guys need to do something! You need to fix this! All of you Americans wanted this! You're ALL pedophile lovers!"

Today it's all, "It doesn't matter that you protested and organized and worked the polls and wrested control of your legislature and state governments back against overwhelming odds and electoral fraud and ballot fuckery and gerrymanders and billionaire cash and endless streams of propaganda from every direction and threats of ICE violence at the polls and everything else they threw at you! NO! It's not good enough and never will be!"

Good thing I concentrated my efforts on real life and not on the impossible lines in the sand laid down by people who don't even live here.

As a non-american, while the mid-term results make me feel good, and seeing all the various moves to "right the ship" is great, the fact that so much trust, which much of the world treated as foundational in many ways, was so easily broken in the first place, is what I feel gives the rest of the world pause. It's a basic fact that breaking trust is easy, building it is way harder, and SOOOOO much trust was broken globally by the Trump administration.

I'm hopeful, but I do agree that building trust back is gonna be a multi-generational thing and quite likely, people are going to put more systems in place to never HAVE to trust another nation as much as much of the world used to trust the US. I do believe some things were irevocably broken, but that doesn't meant things can't get better.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

You've written as though I am heartbroken or offended that no one trusts the US, or that somehow the facts of the matter have all escaped me and I don't actually know how President Krasnov has gone out of his way to offend every single one of our allies beyond their tolerance point and likely beyond repair. Not at all. Look at my post history.

Even so I have no problem at all with what you just wrote, beyond the fact that you seem to think Americans have zero idea that this is not all there is, and far more change must come, or that you think Americans unilaterally want the world's trust back. No. The world has changed, and we are all changing with it.

The US has absolutely broken the world's trust, and to be perfectly honest, as an American I'm not sure we ever deserved it, nor that we should ever have it back. Europe needed to have been building its own defenses and resources already, ditto Canada. The entire world -- and especially those countries that so easily withdrew resources and wealth before fucking back off to cooler climes -- needs to be helping the third world.

Again, to be blunt, what you call "trust" as a non-American, I call my own American tax dollars that went somewhere other than helping me. So don't think it's the be-all and end-all to me that we've lost it. I'd like some fucking healthcare and not have to pay $2k for a goddamn thyroid panel (insurance thing, true story), and you can build your own national resources.

It can no longer be denied that there is a great deal of corruption at the bottom of that lost international "trust," and while I would not seek to directly insult you personally, the absolute truth is that not all the corruption was or is American. It may well be best at every level to just leave "trust" shattered as it is now and let the new alliances emerge where they may; at the very least, every country or power will be forced to pull its own weight.

But back to the comment I replied to earlier. The difference between what you wrote and the other one is sincerity: you, personally, are obviously sincere. Or at least you do not expect Americans who are very clearly on the side of wanting the same things you do to be your very own punching bags of discontent while the world does not change fast enough for you personally.

But there's something else. When Hungary overthrew Orban, or when Serbia threw out their autocrat, or even when Brazil threw out Bolsonaro, I didn't see dogpilers coming out online to attack. They celebrated, and we overwhelmingly celebrated with them. Everybody in the world knows this is not an overnight thing.

But then again, those countries are not the subject of a protracted decade-long online disinformation and manipulation effort. Mine is. And if there's anything that sticks out as a bad faith comment, it's what I just replied to.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 hour ago

I envy your wordsmithing ability. Also, I agree with a lot of what you wrote.

[–] whalesnrainbows@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

👏👏👏

I would also add that fascistic ideology is on the rise everywhere, and that every nation has its own history of systemic oppression and/or imperialism to reckon with.

The U.S. may be in the hot seat, and rightly so, but if you aren’t individually actively engaged in dismantling systems of oppression and building a better world where you live, other than voting every election cycle, you have no high horse from which to condescend.

[–] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I think making an actual international antifascist org that just goes around doing inglorious basterds shit wherever this poisonous slime surfaces would be a very smart move for humanity.

[–] whalesnrainbows@lemmy.world 2 points 50 minutes ago

It really would. I’d join in a heartbeat.

I doubt that I will ever travel to murikkka again in my lifetime. I'm at the prove it point in my life. I don't give a shit about talking points anymore I want to see action. And murikkka needs a Nuremberg level action for me to even start considering it

[–] DashboTreeFrog@discuss.online 1 points 2 hours ago

Pretty much the same for me. I've got close family in the US that I haven't seen since before the second Trump administration. Have been invited over multiple times but did not and still do not feel safe going there.

[–] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I live here, and I don't trust Americans after this shit.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

You're also a three day old account on an Australian instance, with 234 comments in just three days, mostly Nazi killing content, who has posted that you "live here" more than once on just this thread alone.

For myself, I like quokk.au and looked into joining it, but the response times are way too slow for me on the East Coast.

Also, if you could clarify:

I live here, and I don’t trust Americans after this shit.

After what shit, specifically? It's kind of a strange thing to say. Me, I haven't trusted Americans my entire life, being one, but you -- some unnamed shit has changed everything about trusting the people of your own land. What might that shit be that has now ended for you and made you feel safe enough to share your concerns?

[–] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

its true I didn't super trust them on a personal level, but after this I don't trust Americans to manage a McDonald's, wipe their own asses, or walk five steps without deciding everything bad that ever happened to them was caused by The Jews. I was kind of a misanthrope before all this, I thought I'd found the floor, and these mother fuckers burrowed through the mantle.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 2 points 55 minutes ago* (last edited 55 minutes ago) (1 children)

Huh. I'd have conceded us at least clean asses for the most part, but okay. I can't say I've ever really looked at my fellow Americans in exactly that light, or known any that do, but thank you for clarifying.

Any reason you still want to make your life and home among us?

I'm poor and you don't fix problems by running away.

every threat actor, and families of substantial threat actors must also be punished.

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 37 points 4 hours ago

This is FALSE! We're focused on NOTHING and will Remain COMMITTED to Nothing!

-Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer!

It's going to be a golden era for litigators.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 28 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

If only there were a large pool of experts recently fired from the Justice department by the exact administration they would need to investigate. Wouldn't that be something?

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 6 points 2 hours ago

Maybe litigators that know where bodies are buried?
