Mid 30s here. I overlook the times he's a bad, selfish father for the sake of comedy; he's always hilarious and usually relatable, just to an exaggerated extent. As opposed to Butters' parents who are just horrible, despite him being the sweetest kid ever, do you know what I am saying?

I liked seeing Randy's character develop over the years and become more of a main character, and I'm cool with the Tegridy Farms thing.

With that said, the Lorde thing never really landed for me, it was funny, but I don't think I fully got it.

I've got two and they're both from Butters:

  • Grandma? I did it, Grandma. I finally stood up for myself. I got real mean and I beat the shnot outta Dr. Oz. I can't lie, it felt kind of good. At first. But since then all I have is just... a kind of dark, empty feeling. Then I realized... that's how you must feel. All the time. Poor old Grandma. You know, I-I've been gettin' lots of advice how to deal with you. Stand up to you, tell on you... But I kind of realize there's just people like you out there. All over the place. When you're a kid, things seem like they're gonna last forever. But they're not. Life changes. Why you won't always be around. Someday you're gonna die. Someday pretty soon. And when you're layin' in that hospital bed, with tubes up your nose, and that little pan under your butt to pee in, well I'll come visit ya. I'll come just to show you that, that I'm still alive and I'm still happy. And you'll die. Bein' nothin' but you. 'Night Grandma.
  • Kyle, every boy pays for kisses. Do you know what I am saying? If you got a girl and she kisses you, sooner or later you're paying for it. You gotta take her out to lunch, take her to a movie, and then spend time listening to all her stupid problems. Look, look at Stan right there. He's got to sit there and listen to all her stupid motherfuckin' problems 'cause she kisses him. If you ask me, that's a lot more than the $5 my company charges.

Now, I'm not a proponent for elder abuse and I don't pay for kisses, but both of these lines get me every time. Butters is much more insightful than he seems at face value, and I love him for it.

I disagree, I find Family Guy funny but I get why they don't like being compared to it. FG is just for laughs comedy and they throw in a lot of unrelated cutaway gags and references, just because they're funny. South Park episodes are written with story lines that parody current events and social commentary, to put things in different perspectives and call attention to them; whereas FG will just make a 5 second cutaway making fun of a celebrity or company.

It's like comparing apples and oranges to me.
