Little reminder: autism is a spectrum, and not every person who is autistic necessarily has special interests. :)

I have a close friend with schizophrenia, and jokes about "hearing voices" and similar are pretty common among young people in Germany.

I believe that such jokes only harm the understanding of what is actually being joked about, have no value, and may hurt those who are affected by these things.

 

I have a "suspected diagnosis" (German: Verdachtsdiagnose) of ASD by a psychiatrist, and they forwarded me to a clinic that can perform the full diagnosis. I've filled out a form and been put on the waitlist, but they couldn't give an estimate. Another clinic in my region also does autism diagnoses for adults, but their website says they have waiting times of 2–3 years 😵‍💫
