There's currently 5 bushfires burning around my state and it's only mid spring in the southern hemisphere. Last year we experienced devastating floods across the country on a scale we've never seen before. A few years before that we had one of the worst bushfire seasons in history.

Ahh modafinil. I used to use this to self medicate my adhd because I procrastinated getting my diagnosis. Worked pretty well actually, far better than just caffeine (although I used to go pretty hard on both). Doesn't even compare to proper adhd meds though.
I mean isn't this literally part of Meta's whole business strategy?
It is but gender inequality is still endemic across society. Put this way, I'd rather be a woman in Iceland than say Afghanistan, but I'd still rather be a man in every single country.
Don't you dare fucking touch Wikipedia
My same foods kind of determine my diet for me.
In Australia, yes. I also suspect there's a motivation to not document any evidence that might hold us (or more, our government) responsible for the role that we've played in climate change. Not just the fact that we sell coal and gas to everyone and our per capita emissions are fucking whacked, but also the role we've played in holding up climate action.
I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of there being some sort of cosmic natural order in the universe, but if there is, we have fucked it sideways. And it's not like we don't have the capacity and intellect as a species to solve the problem of climate change. We're just too lazy and greedy to actually do it.
Surprise pikachu the country that sells coal to the world wants to suppress information about the 'side effects' of its key export product. Seriously though, Australia is only wealthy because of the abundance of resources within our country - that's why we often refer to ourselves as the lucky country. I live in a state where the majority of the black coal is (the one that you burn for power rather than steel). We get mining royalties from the companies that extract the coal and sell it. When the price of coal went up a few years ago our state government raised mining royalties in line with this. The fossil fuel industry has been attacking our state government ever since. There have been attack ads playing on TV about this for almost 3 years now. These fuckers don't play around and will fight tooth and nail to maintain their power.
People have all kinds of personal reasons for keeping their distance from others, which are all valid of course. However as a neurodivergent person myself who also experiences this freezing out from others, I can't help but think it's linked to the fact that they've clocked me as different. Often people are motivated by building social capital and I don't have much of that so I feel like people think there's just no real benefit to connecting with me.
It's been really interesting watching Greta grow up - like in the teenager to adult sense. When she was younger you could see that kind of passionate idealism that you have when you're young (I don't think it's a bad thing, the way society crushes this in young people is the bad thing). But now she just has this very profound smirk on her face everytime she's arrested. It's not a happy smirk but more of a 'yep this shit again' smirk. I think it's a testament to her authenticity and commitment to calling out bullshit. As an autistic person Greta is also an amazing inspiration to me because sometimes people who can tell it like it is are an absolute asset to our society.
Normalcy bias for sure. Just like at the start of covid.
