The XM5:s aren't bad, they're not the best att anything neccessarily from what I've heard but I think they're definately enough of an upgrade from the cheap stuff to provide a noticable bump up in sound and build quality.
I think they're great for everyday use, and if you like you can use the XM5:s as an oppertunity to consider if you're wanting more out of a certain area, like a wider soundstage, sharper definition of each instrument or just that big stinky base without sounding like a turbocharged exhaust pipe ran through mud. There's a LOT of different types of cans out there that can provide you with different types of sound at varying levels of convenience. There's a lot of good guides on Youtube of you're unsure what you're looking for
But at the end of the line the only thing that matters is that you're enjoying it!
