Yeah, he did the smart thing of actually adapting to his competition. Embiid is now a better passer, than Jokic is a defender.

Since he's basically lost the race for this era's greatest big man, the only way Embiid could enhance his legacy in the long run, was by establishing himself as the most versatile traditional center ever (by doing everything at a high level)

By making him a passer, Nurse has really put Embiid in a position to succeed in the playoffs. So this year we'll definitively know whether Embiid's postseason woes have more to do with stricter officiating, or choking.

No one really thinks of Embiid as an all-time great scorer (yet), but 3 straight scoring titles would place him in truly elite company

If a player is an RFA, that's when the Arenas rule would apply

But they can still be offered the max by their own team?

Let's say some foreign player, for whatever reason (because of age, or lack of competition) falls under the radar of recruiters, and doesnt get drafted. After signing a one-year deal with a team, he immediately shows out and wins the ROTY, and looks to be a perennial all-star

So can a player like that, be offered a max contract under NBA regulations? If not, what's the maximum that a free agent can be offered, ahead of his second season?

If Lebron was a couple of decades younger, and was coming into the league ahead of this season (after a year of either dominating college basketball, or making grown men cry in the G-League), would he have gone No.1 ahead of Wembenyama?

Would he have gotten the same type of hype in 2023 as he did in 2003, and if so, would that have been enough to get picked over the 7'4 Frenchman?

Yes, Lebron would've grown up watching late 2010s basketball, and would most likely be a slightly better shooter coming into the league

The 130th highest paid player in the league, shouldn't have to deal with this bullshit

Scoot Henderson is currently a starter over Malcolm Brogdon, and will most likely be the reason Sharpe goes back to the bench once Simons returns

In his MVP season (where he didn't cross 25 ppg), he was tied for second in the league in scoring, and had an eFG% that was better than Dirk, and the same as Duncan

The stars themselves have become much better shooters, and there are more serviceable spot-up shooters than there used to be 2010s.

But the absolute cream of the crop in terms of non-allstar shooters played in the 2010s, the top of that pile nowadays doesn't even compare to those guys

He'll be back to being 'kinda good' next year

The entire NBA ecosystem seems to have unanimously decided that there's no shot for Embiid to win consecutive MVPs, especially after this year's playoffs where Embiid underperformed, while his most direct competitor established himself both as a champion, and as the top-dog in the league

But the one thing NBA has consistently proven, is that it's very tricky to predict (notwithstanding the Warriors superserum run), and there very well maybe a future where we're watching Joel Embiid hoist up that award once again come May.

So what do you guys think, realistically needs to happen with the Sixers, Embiid himself and the rest of his competition this regular season, for him to win a second MVP?
