Doesn’t it say “Inquire for Availability” ? That means you’ll get the email from Deb, that they don’t have it and can’t locate it.

TL;dr getting a new Longines Spirit Zulu 42mm this week.

L3.812.4.53.2 From Longines.com

I have been a serious Panerai fan for a while. I thought to finally pick up a GMT and stop the infernal itch. I was working through the ridiculous Panerai catalog, checking various models and features, calibers, etc. and watching YouTube videos for each. I had about 60 saved in my notepad for reference and price watching.

While watching a vid on the PAM 320, a real fave, I caught glimpse of a video offered up by the algo for the Longines Sprit Zulu reference L3.812.4.53.2.

I was shocked. Stunned. Overwhelmed. Nah not overwhelmed. But I did change my focus to learning more about it. i realized that this might be my gmt. It is a true travel gmt, and I like being able to flip the hour hand on the local dial. I would normally flip this between Pacific time or UTC depending on my projects. I learned that the ceramic bezel rotates both ways, and can be used for a 3rd time zone (24 hr) by rotating the bezel so the local hour hand matches the time there. I can track PT and UTC simultaneously with this watch. Panerai couldn’t get close in the price range.

The watch looks to have a beautiful finish, is the perfect size at 42mm by 14mm, and I like the strap that comes with it and also ordered the matte calf strap. I ordered directly off the Longines.com website, creating an account and setting up delivery. The Panerai site has a similar feature but I found it to be not working well. Links didn’t click, dropdowns weren’t active, and filter settings would be lost when the Back button is pressed. It was a navigation nightmare. At Longines I was done in 5 minutes.

I looked at discount gray market for this watch and pretty much found the low price outlets don’t actually have it, or worse, were selling floor models as New, but discounted. I decided to bypass all questionable offerings and get one delivered from the source. My caution here is there were a couple videos highlighting some date alignment issues with the watch, and I wanted to be able to return it Easily. An AD in Istanbul won’t work for me.

After reading of all the problems Panerai has had, between fakes, replicas, and poor quality decisions, I like the idea of the Longines. I’ve always thought of them as a Moonphase and chronograph watchmaker, and the GMT is a nice find.

Just a couple more days until Beaver Moon, on 11/27/2023 at 4:16am EST

I'll be wearing the Oris this month.

I love the big date Panerai watches. I have my eye on a PAM 1090 and I’m ready to pull the trigger. I know they’ve taken a beating on the forums and YouTube for their choices as a brand, but I think there‘s great value right now. What do you guys think of Panerai

For new? How about a Martin Braun EOS sunrise/sunset watch

Used.. almost any Panerai GMT

Is there a watch you bought, sold, then re-bought because you realized you absolutely needed it after all?

As I understand, the JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon comes with a crocodile skin strap that is banned for import in the US by CITIES.

Question: Do US authorized dealers have the watches with the croc skin strap and are allowed to import for retail sale? Question 2: how about an online US dealer at chrono24? Can the buyer be a US citizen without any issue?

I kind of just want the watch with the original strap if possible. I've been scared by alligators so I think it's okay.

As I get older, my eyes have betrayed me. I had 20/10 vision into my 40s, then after an accident that damaged my right cornea, I’m now 20/60. I can correct some of it, and my progressive lenses have a magnifying area, but one thing that never seems to get larger are the numbers on complications. I love my Oris Artelier Moonphase - but struggle to read the dials and have to take photos of it sometimes.

while looking for a new Moonphase I found the Frederique Constant Classic Manufacture 40m Big Date with power reserve. Love this watch. some people have commented that the date at 2-3 is off alignment. I looked at other classic Big Date and found this to be a common location, if not at 12 or 6. Watching the Making Of video didn’t lend to a mechanical reason. I’m glad the indices at 2 and 3 are intact instead of chiseled off and a complication stuck there.

Most importantly I can see the big date. I tried picking it off my Oris and Citizen watch yesterday and couldn't make it out so I pulled out my phone. That right there convinced me I need to change something.

Now I swore to never buy anything from Elon musk and that would include his doppelgängers (vid 1), but I’m probably adding this watch.

It's coming together as a watch you can only set accurately twice a month, can't tell time accurately with no indices, and has 1 complication. What time? Moon. What's the date? Moon. Morning or evening? Moon.

As someone who collects moonphase, I see this as more of a Mr. Jones' Watches special than a serious timepiece.

So you haven't seen the Sugees

[–] Soggy_Boss_6136@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So what we end up with is a watch that can't be set accurately but possibly twice a month, cannot be read accurately, day or night, and is a knock on at least 3 others. Someone once said CW is like Swatch+. The Sugee is a better deal. $189

It makes me think "Christoper Robin"

Because Burt WARD was Robin

I have a fascination for moonphase watches and I have an active search saved on chrono24 for Moonphase. Usually, on any given day, maybe 20-30 new watches are added to that site category. My search alerts me. and I sort by Newest.

About 3 days ago, I noticed instead of getting an update for 24 new moonphase, it was 75. I clicked and checked it out - most were extremely high end, Patek Phillipe, Breguet, Audemars in the high 70-350K range.

2 days ago, I get another update. 111 new moonphase in the last 24 hours. I click.. Patek Phillips, Breguet, Audemars, JLC, Vacheron, Glashutte, A. Lange, Rolex... prices similar.

1 day ago, I get an update, 52 new moonphase. Same results.

As usual I'm cruising around YT looking for fun videos, and I come across THIS:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxuxbW_9BhM

6th quarter of price drops. What we're seeing, and I'm sure it's true in other categories, is a huge wave of sellers getting out of a crashing high end luxury watch market. Good for us scrappers.
